Very clear that Wilder is looking to box Ortiz and use his speed and size to win a decision. He's not going to take any risks and look for the KO unless Ortiz is hurt and ready to be taken.

I got Wilder by UD or late KO.

Yes, I guess odds swing towards the UD with him being lighter. Clearly he means to box from distance and keep Ortiz off, instead of attacking and trying to KO Ortiz quickly.

If he does attack Ortiz early he might get stopped, I think box off the back foot for the first 6 rounds then press the action for the second half when Ortiz tires which I think he will.

Yes, I agree that it's the correct plan.

But Wilder does have to be careful not to be too cautious in the first half of the fight, he tends to get tagged when he's trying to be super-cautious.

Yeah your right, I’m assuming your thinking about the Washington fight? Tbh I think Wilder was just timing him.

However like you said Volume will be important to stave Ortiz off, all Ortiz has is his big left hand take that away and Wilder will comfortably.

Yeah, a bit of that fight, but also some others, when Wilder is too tentative he tends to get tagged. Like you say get still needs to throw some volume of punches, not just run.

It's all about finding the right balance IMHO.
