At this point in their careers, both were 39-0 and 32-33 years of age. Lots of similarities between the two fighters

    Wilder TKO10 Ortiz

    Holmes TKO13 Cooney

It would have been a great fight. I think Larry would be outboxing him until the later rounds and can Deontay find a big right hand to knock Larry out? Larry was hit hard several times by Cooney in this fight and I suspect Wilder would find that big right hand. Could it knock Larry out?

    Please Discuss.

If shavers landed his best punch and Larry got up he's taking Wilders. Holmes destroys him after 6 imo, Holmes is 2-3 levels above, and you need more than a hail mary to beat him

I also think Cooneys left hook was better than anything Wilder throws, he had power and could land it far better than Wilder

No man, Wilder had much much more power than Cooney ever did and was a better fighter.

I think if Wilder lands the right bomb, it could knock Larry out. Somewhat similar to what Mike did to him a couple of years later.

Larry here was more prime and much more fresh with something to prove, it could be hard for Wilder.

I cant leave it at that. With Wilders fundamental flaws I see Larry fighting aggressive, more than ever.

Wilder would win that fight vs Cooney if they fought. Cooney never really did much against Holmes, was outskilled from beginning to end, pretty much. Holmes' professionalism was overwhelming in that fight.

Cooney is better skilled than Wilder, FACT. That's why people laugh at Wilder, ITS HIS SKILL SET, big punch yes of course, rangy, getting slightly better yes I agree, but lets not pretend that Wilder isn't one of the worst skilled heavies holding the title ever. Its intangibles that make Wilder successful

Don't forget defense, Wilder's defense is top class.

People tend to undermine it, not sure why.

Wilder would beat him though, even though he seems uncoordinated at times.

Cooney wasn't exactly Floyd Mayweather in terms of skills okay lmfao.

Did you see that Holmes fight? He looked very lost for a majority of that fight.

Most would be lost prime Holmes, he had some struggles, but in a big fight he's another fighter all together. Holmes is the level of fighter that would show Wilder up. Two fisted assault has Deontay wobbly at some stage and he gets stopped

Larry was vulnerable to the 1-2. Tyson KO’d him with a 1-2.

    "Wilders defence is top class"

Sorry I'll need to have a sit down. I think my sides have split

He would outbox Wilder, but Wilder is the kind of fighter where he could knock out anyone with that big right hand.

That's why this fight is so intriguing!

Wilder and Holmes would have made a great fight

50-50 fight lol!! it's 95-5 at least in favour of Holmes, Wilder has the slimiest of puncher's chance but that's it, because all Wilder has is power that's it.

This is one of the dumbest threads I've ever read.

You are attempting to compare Wilder to a legend.

Wilder has fought 1 credible opponent in 39 fights, one.
