South of 1960s contender Jerry Quarry who at least beat Floyd Patterson and Ron Lyle. Wilder's best wins are Luis Ortiz and Bermane Stiverne.

Jerry Quarry couldn't beat Tony Alongi in multiple tries.

Jerry Quarry couldn't beat a guy who went 17-5 as a MIDDLEWEIGHT for a vacant heavyweight strap.

A 38-year-old Quarry was eaking out split decisions against 184-pound, total nobody James Williams, when a 38-year-old Wilder was giving up 30 pounds to a much younger Parker and giving up 70 pounds to Zhang, and fans here were mocking him.

Wilder is so far superior to heavyweights like Quarry it's ridiculous.

Parker and Zhang would've sent a 38-year-old Quarry to the morgue.

The hatred people have for Wilder on this board continues to amaze me.

Nevertheless, Quarry fought the better competition and has better wins. 6'1" Max Schmeling's KO of Joe Louis is far better than anything that the 6'7" Deontay Wilder ever did. Think about that.

If Wilder failed to beat a guy who went 17-5 at middleweight for a vacant title, it would be the LEAD in every argument against him.

If Wilder fought Tony Alongi twice and couldn't win, the guys who hate him here wouldn't have him in the top 200.

People bash Wilder for everything, while at the same time praising guys who didn't accomplish nearly as much.

Yes, beating Joe Louis is major accomplishment.

I missed when Jerry Quarry beat Joe Louis. You'll have to post that fight.

He accomplished next to nothing. He is the Buddy Baer, Abe Simon, Primo Carnera, Jess Willard of our day, just a big dumb oaf who punches hard. He's not Jack Dempsey. He's Lance Whitaker. He's Nikolai Valuev. He's from their cloth. He's Joe Bugner. He wishes that he was Gerry Cooney.

Again, Wilder won the National Golden Gloves.
Wilder won the US Amateur Championships.
Wilder won the US Olympic Trials.
Wilder won a Bronze in the Olympics, losing in the semifinals ... the same year and same division where Usyk failed to medal at all.
Wilder won the WBC Heavyweight Title ... made 10 successful defenses (including one against the undefeated Ring champ)
Wilder is ranked Top Five all-time in longest single reign at heavyweight
Wilder is ranked Top 10 all-time among most successful defenses of a heavyweight title
Wilder won his first 40 straight fights ... knocking out every man he faced. Only two heavyweight champions in history went 40-0, Foreman and Marciano.

He achieved more than most heavyweights have ever done.

He achieved more than anyone you've listed.

You can keep insisting he didn't accomplish anything, but clearly he did.

All the temper tantrums and foot stomps won't change that fact.

A paper title and a manufactured reign with cherry picked defenses doesn't mean anything. When he fought anyone with a pulse he got wrecked.

You were just praising Jerry Quarry, who couldn't even win a vacant, manufactured "paper" title against a guy who went 17-5 at middleweight.

That's pretty hypocritical. Your hatred blinds you.

Quarry beat Patterson, Lyle, Shavers, and Mac Foster. That is a real, if minor, legacy.

    Matthew Saad Muhammad
    Marvin Johnson
    Victor Galindez
    Thomas Hearns
    Antonio Tarver
    Glen Johnson
    Sergey Kovalev
    Andre Ward
and Joe Calzaghe all individually beat better light heavyweights than Bob Foster ever beat.

Some beat A LOT more great light heavies than Foster ever did.

But if you ranked the 10 best light heavyweights all-time out of the group of names above, is Bob Foster on the bottom of that top 10 list or at the very top?

    He's at the top.

All-time accomplishments matter more than a random win over a name here and there. At least they do to all the hypocrites when they AREN'T talking about Wilder.

When the topic is Wilder, the hate consumes them. Then every schmo who ever scored an upset win was superior.

It never ends. They just can't get over it.

Top 150? I will say yes. I refuse to give Wilder credit for the obvious reasons but in reality nearly all of that is not his fault. Pure boxing ability, I think it's possible that he's not top 150. However when you take into affect his mind numbing one punch KO power and his entertainment value then I will bend and put him in. He's the great manufactured champion of our time. Like I said, not his fault but it does come into calculations when judging his position in the analysis of all time heavyweight rankings.

Top ten in terms of ring-walk costumes.

Sure they have cost him losses that he would have otherwise won. But he will be remembered fondly for putting in the extra effort on that front.

That's a pretty good assessment of Wilder's place in the history of the heavyweight division. A little generous, in fact. :sisi1
