The guy worked at burger king, I hop, drove a budweiser delivery truck. He started boxing late, they said you're too old, too skinny, too light, no boxing talent. He got stopped in the Olympics. He's not from a boxing hotbed. If he had listened to nay sayers and people like me, he would've quit boxing. But he had that self belief, trust the process. Is he the best HW in the world no I don't think so, and I think fury beat him, but he has came so much farther. His story is more impressive to me than fury getting fat and then getting back into boxing shape.
Wilder has God gifted power which has helped him immensely to overcome his flaws. Can he deal with opponents with skill and with answers to his power?
more that he got breaks with povetkin and ortiz and his team matched him carefully with other mediocre fighters, he has benefited from a horrible state of boxing like many others in other divisions.
Wilders lucky he's not 0 and 2 against his first legit opponents. Wilder has self belief so much he's requested the rematch stays in the U.S, shocked he didn't request the Barclays center..lol The reality is he would hold the HW division up if he could get away with it which the Joshua situation proved.
He hit the lottery when the 7th round bell had saved him. Do you consider people who win the lottery lucky or powerful ?
Someone trying to pretend that a doctor checking out Wilder for a few seconds, which is standard procedure in NY, was part of some conspiracy and had a huge impact on the outcome of the match, has no relevance to me so who cares. Ortiz didn't all of sudden get more gassed and chose to not follow up after Wilder got checked out, had the round started a few seconds earlier, Ortiz would have still been gassed from punching himself and wouldn't have followed up.
Did the Doctors call time out as well as Wilder getting pasted right before the end of the round ? Because that's what your argument is right..the DOCTORS doing their job which he' caught a break there as well just more proof how lucky he got!
yea I'm a kook for pointing out the obvious on here that the bell saved Wilder and was within a few seconds of possibilities of a stoppage bc he wasn't throwing back when 15 unanswered punches thrown at him...... Do yourself a favor Dr. Demento think before you post to me bc it never goes well for you !
Since Wilder knocked out or dropped all his opponents it’s not luck anymore, Wilder is the real deal and none of your excuses will change that.
I used to pick on Wilder too, but the poster is correct: the man has made something of himself against the odds. And even if he may have lost to Fury, he showed heart, chin, and of course, power. Give the man a break.
