DEONTAY WILDER CALLS OUT JOSEPH PARKER FOR JULY UNIFICATION

It's not about who they have fought unless you take into account the opportunities for fighting better opposition. In other words, it comes down to how much ambition a fighter is perceived to have.

AJ has signed to fight Klitschko so he cannot be criticized at the moment.
Parker only just got his belt and was forced to negotiate to fight Hughie straightaway. So he hasn't had the chance to unify yet, and thus shouldn't be criticized.
Ortiz indeed hasn't fought anyone good, but most people seem to think it's because he's high risk / low reward, and thus it's not his fault. Who knows?

The reason Wilder gets hate is that his defenses read: Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka, Arreola, Washington. I personally don't like criticizing Wilder, and I am willing to accept that Arreola was a late replacement and Washington was supposed to be a tune-up fight. But there was no good reason to fight Szpilka, who was considered the worst fighter in the WBC top 15. On their own, most of those names are defensible but when you look at it as a whole, there is some justification for doubting Wilder's ambition.

 

Agreed, just like some people really like to hate on the Klitschkos.

 

Is Parker allowed to fight again so close to his May fight? Im not clued up on out of the ring rules and smallprint but im sure i read somewhere once that Boxing authorities didnt allow title fights so close to another one. Or i may of not read that and they can fight as often as they want.

Or is it something to do with if you have been knocked out in a fight. May be wrong on that too.

 

I think it is a medical thing if you get knocked out or concussed. Certainly the sanctioning bodies like more title fights and more sanctioning fees.
