Wilder can dominate bums and chumps in both divisions, but put him in with a decent fighter who isn't old and ailing (like Ortiz and Stiverne) and this fragile mandible is getting SHATTERED!

Exactly, that's why Muhammad Ali would have been a cruiser as well. And he looked much fatter than Wilder at 215 pounds. A much higher body fat percentage there on top of the already easy water weight to cut with our modern pre day weigh-ins - just to rehydrate back the very next day.

Ali bodytype was Chris Byrd like, so he could have cut down to 168

Ali effectiveness at Heavyweight was also similar to Byrd (except Ali had more range/skills), so I favor Ali vs Foster at Heavyweight, than at light Heavyweight (Ali still wins, but the style of Ali is heavily dependent on psychologically abusing the Bigger heavyweight), depending largely on his heart/chin/mental toughness then everything else

Deontay Wilder is more on the explosive power/speed/range style, he fits better along with the Welterweight versions Trinidad & SRR

Many old time Heavyweights would have been tough customers at lower weights, Ali exception is based on his exceptional persona/heart/chin/mental toughness. Ike Ibeabucci was able to upper cut Byrd, Wlad was able to Right hand Byrd, Ali exceptionalism makes it possible to envision him doing better than Byrd

Wilder standing next to 6'6" Carmelo Anthony. Wilder is 198cm, but with shoes on he's 200cm.

Wilder standing next to 6'7" Tyson Fury, who is 201 barefoot.

Also, Wilder is going to be 33 years old. He's way too old to be cutting 30+ lbs.

At 214 Wilder was skin and bones.

A 1% height diff easily fluctuated by posture...

Older Lightweights still easily make weight cutting down more %

    Weak argument Jack...

Wilder has a 36 inch waist with almost no bodyfat. Also like 8 inch wrists.

SRR waist was probably under 30. So I dont think SRR body type is a short Wilder body type. They're both long and lanky, but the taller guys are usually going to have wider hips, rib cage, clavicles, etc.

Why do people struggle so much with the basic concepts of weight cutting?

Weight cutting is not about "losing fat" and it is not about "walk around weight". We are talking about the difference between the weigh-in (dehydrated) and fight night (hydrated) which is largely unrelated to physique. Many lean guys can dehydrate significantly.

Wilder is 214-220 when hydrated for fight night. This is a normal weight for someone who dehydrates to make cruiserweight. While we can't say for sure (maybe Wilder has some sort of unusual physiology where he struggles to dehydrate? Who knows), on the face of it he should be able to make cruiserweight.

On top of that, let's not forget he actually was a cruiserweight in the amateurs.

Tyson Fury will not just let Deontay Wilder take his Lineal Heavyweight crown....without a war

Tough luck for Deontay Wilder, he had to take Luis Ortiz one of the most dangerous counter punchers in boxing history. Now he has to fight a Gigantic Elongated Harry Greb.

Impressive job by Hearn protecting his Nigerian Bodybuilder
