Deontay Wilder carries KO power later in the fight than Mike Tyson did, no?

Yeah, you may want to watch that again. Ref stoppage. No "spectacular KO".

True, Tyson had nearly no KO's past the seventh round. His build was such that I think his stamina would be sapped and his power would wane in the later rounds. Wilder's not as heavy and I don't think he expends as much energy during the fight as Tyson did.

Yeah, I wouldn't really call jumping up and down throwing tiger uppercuts then spazzing out after a ref stoppage a particularly spectacular KO either.

Comparing Deontay to Mike Tyson is quite a display of intellectual disability. Go look at Mike's old fights. How many rounds did he give away, against opposition outweighting him, taller than him?

Now look at Deontay vs. Duhaupas. Look at Deontay vs. Otiz. He routinely loses rounds. Gets outworked, outsmarted.

How would prime Mike Tyson have dealt with the french pastry chef Duhaupas? Would he have carried him into round 11, giving away 3-4 rounds in the process?

Tyson was all explosive energy, which is very energy intensive. Wilder can afford to use his long levers to generate power, which isn't quite so draining.

Very true and it's also why Tyson had a lot of early KO's. You had to get past the Tyson onslaught, which wasn't easy (you couldn't hurt Tyson unlike Wilder IMO) and not many opponents did when Tyson was in his prime. It's also why Tyson was never really behind in any fight either. It was difficult to keep him off of you. On the other hand, you could outbox Wilder (who isn't a pressure fighter like Tyson) but he could still clip you in the 10th round (Ortiz).

Tysons peak a boo style would take a lot o stamina out of him

Like Ovah rightly said, Wilder can conserve energy through his height and range which is why he will be able to have a long career without so much miles on the clock and another reason why he doesn't have much trouble going 12 rounds.

Yeah, Tyson was pretty devastating early doors. He was a whirlwind that could hurt you with any shot and frequently did. Wilder's only really got that right hand, and he needs space to wind up on it. Take that away and he's pretty toothless. Trouble is fighters are rarely able to do so for the whole duration of the fight.
