I've seen him use his jab and range for about 1 1/2 rounds of his life. Fury 3. He was effective when he did it. But that's 22 rounds ago.

Don't understand the mitt drill that Wilder was doing with his coach/trainer. The coach is having Wilder parry his jab with his own left hand which would leave DW open to a right hand if the opponent was tall enough and long enough to reach him. The way his coach/trainer is working the jab, it wouldn't reach DW anyway so there is no need to parry it, if anything a slight slip is all he'd need, probably not even that.

The drill doesn't seem useful. Someone posted a video of Beterbiev working the bag before his last fight. His coach/trainer was using a pool noodle and correcting his right foot pivot after each right hand. IMO, that is coaching, working on the fundamentals, spotting the little things that the fighter might be neglecting over time. Those are the things that will ensure the fighter's balance, power, weight shift, etc. is correct. DW could probably use more fundamental work too.
