Nooooooooo no Pom here!!!! .......not that there's anything wrong with that

So those stats were for our old trainer. Bear in mind he was reasonably old and i think in the seniors regarding those lifts etc. He took up powerlifting late after bodybuilding. He had some age records at various points in time for deads and squats. When he achieved all his comp lifts he was 100% clean. Obviously would have been ob roids as a bodybuilder but went clean and all these powerlifting comps are drug tested.

I just found some of his old records. At one point he had a clean sweep of one division and everything bu the bench in the next up. He'd only been in powerlifting for 4 or so years at that point i reckon. Bear in mind he was born in 1958 so factor his age into all these stats and it's pretty impressive. I have to admit i am a bit confused reading that previous table as well.

The guy that did the close grip bench (not the trainer from the stats) never ever for some reason did standard grip bench. He did flat dumbbells tho and was very strong on those. I can't remember but i'm thinking he may have been injured at some point from flat bench presses maybe.

Thanks for the info John! I confess I dunno what accidental reference I might have made that activated the porn jibe...

Yes I notes his age, it IS very impressive.
Although just doing PEDs (& presumably for some years) would also somewhat expand his potential, even when lifting clean.

Ah I did not know the close bench dude was not the trainer thanks.
Doing slightly different exercises than what is measured, like Westside Barbell trumpeting box squats, can be quite helpful.
Our own "Rules" can do a set of 160 lb. DBs, never having taken anything!

You must have a dirty mind my man because i think/hope/reckon i posted p-o-m??? British = pom to most i believe. It will make sense via a reread.

Totally agree the earlier roids expanded his potential, absolutely. He'd have the education to cycle perfectly too which leads me to another tidbit. Around the time i left the gym i had noted he was quite red in the face a bit. One of the inner members confided that he was back on the gear and asked how i could not tell given his bald head looked like it was about to explode like a giant pimple. One certainly wouldn't have been game t throw a horses hoof jibe athim around that time that's for sure. He was pretty pent up! He'd had some injuries and had stagnated from memory so was taking a decent period off and obviously rebuilding. It's all legal as long as you pass tests at the comps i guess. I also remember reading in the local paper he had some heart trouble some years back, i wonder why LOL.

Yes i reckon Rules is an absolute beast. The stories he's told are fascinating and i absolutely believe every word of them. Even online you can tell he's 100% ridgey didge.

Wilder hits harder and is faster, so he has his chance.

Wilder beats most of them quite comfortably.

Not much of one, in my opinion.

You must know it was likely a visual error & the words look nearly identical...
Also if not British-one tiny part of the world & folks here are from all over-we will not know that slang.
You threw in a few other expressions & likely knew I would have to approximate meaning from context or Google them lol!

So much Ego is connected to PEDs.
People delude themselves that if they cycle a certain way they will be more or less safe.
But even if not showing almost exploding head or other symptoms, or taking anything more than replacement hormone levels IF you are low & under medical supervision...
    It is dangerous.
    Fake.
    Not really you.

Yes don't worry i knew full well it was a misread and was having a joke with it, which i thought would be obvious as well given the misread was so obvious. Next time. Yes i added a little extra slang to keep you on your toes and try and gauge what is well known and not.

Agree there's a lot of ego connected to PEDS.

I guess the one thing i can give PEDS is that i do know people that reached levels they would never have dreamed of without them and even after being off them for years were still immensely strong. Of course the negatives will outweigh the positives for most but there are some people that are happy they took them, even in the long run. The lucky ones perhaps.

    Well said my friend.
And nice tribute to & avatar of Mr. Earnie Shavers.
He was a very good guy, sincere, the one flaw I know of is he favored older fighters to a slightly absurd degree lol!

I am glad that some things cannot be either totally stolen with artificial means, i.e. drugs, + it is good that some capacities are not purely earned even with hard, scientific training.
The acorn honed his immense natural power slinging that axe.
And it is possible he hit harder than anyone.
