It doesnt matter if you fight some lesser opponent once in awhile to stay busy. I think its better than fight only once or twice a year. Most of old timers did that as well. I hope though that his next opponent will be someone top 10-15.

Why is it so hard to fight someone roughly in the middle of that gaping chasm?

Fights like this aren't even giving Wilder any meaningful experience at this point. He needs to fight someone like... say... Tye Fields or Audley Harrison. Someone with some size, experience, and punching power who doesn't just lay down but isn't all that good either.

I really expected him to fight someone halfway decent after calling out Fury.

But the only way to market this guy is that he is undefeated.

    career:
    1998 to 2001 166 to 173. 11-0, 8KO's
    almost 6 years off...
    2007 two bouts @170 and 185! 2-0, 2KO's
    almost 3 years off...
    2010 one bout @230!!! 1-0, 0KO's
    2012 Deontay @2xx (or maybe @3xx)

The thing is though, it's EASY to call someone out on twitter, you just log on and write down a few lines.

But when it comes time to negotiate, are you in the room?

If so, what are you offering, or should I say demanding

If wilder was demanding 700,000 pounds, first class plane tickets for him and his team, 5 star hotel for him and his team, training expenses and sparring partners all paid for etc, etc, etc. Then he's not serious. What is he offering in return? beating him isn't going to do anything for Fury's ranking, there won't be any TV money because Wilder is an unknown, what's the point?

it's why this whole "twitter" lark pisses me off, it has no real world relevance.

A day or so after the Fury talk Wilder started calling out Aussie heavyweight Mark De Mori ffs. Both him and Fury agree in principle, then the following week this **** gets signed.

I'm over discussiong him for now, scrap that i'm over discussing him, boytsov, fury and the rest of them until one of them actually fights someone.

    Talk about misleading thread title.

I should have known though. It is about Wilder after all.

Some of the people on this site should just stop watching boxing.

Wilder sparred several rounds with David Haye, and has with other top level fighters.

He learns more in those spars than he will in the 20 seconds this fight will take.

He might as well hit a heavy bag once.

Grow the **** up you idiot and see my previous post about the Fury situation.

Good points, but wouldnt we rather see how Wilder handle a big man and puncher like Fields, or a slick fighter like KJ, or even a gritty journeyman like Gavern.

Tough for Wilder since he's not self promoted, but surely he's gotta want step up fights before he's thrown into the lions den with a Klitshcko or the next titlist.:think

I don't believe he was talking about the circumstances of it all, he means the quality.

If you have quality sparring then yes, it is probably better than fighting a guy who 11 years ago was a middleweight, had a six year lay off and came back as a bloated up heavyweight who has then not fought in two years. I mean, seriously?

The TS mentioned Martin Rogan in a bad light, but although past it, at least Rogan had beaten Harrison, Skelton and proven himself as a domestic level heavy. And for the record Fury fought Chisora, a ***** he isn't.

As for staying sharp, fighting all the time, that's fine and I have no problem with it, but again, it has to be against people you can at least get motivated for. Is Wilder really going to have the fear when he goes in there to fight Damon McCreary. I honestly do not think so.

Absolute dog of a fight, end of.

I give Wilder alot of credit.

for finding these type of opponents who have been inactive, fat, old, and short over and over again.
its very hard to find a guy that has 4 fights in 11 years :rofl

Pathetic fight. Wilder is an embarrassment. He's had 24 wins and he's not even in the top 50 on Boxrec.
