Regie Pena, 6-6 http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=468841&cat=boxer Never even heard of this guy. Does he really exist? POST SCRIPT: This guy looks down right suspect. All of his 6 losses are to undefeated fighters. Is he a guy who "does what he is paid for?"
If the guy does NOT step up on his competition in next fights from this I am going to start giving him mad ****... these guys he is fighting does not even pass a bum status.
I can't say as I understand your DW obsession, Catch. Why is his record padding even worth mentioning?
I don't know. 6'7, Olympic Bronze meddalist, big power in the right hand. I just kind of wish this guy was for real, and he is starting to look like a fraud.
I'm right there with ya, and agree :-( He needs to get his **** in gear or pack it up. It's not like he has to worry about rocketing to the top and have Klitschko there still waiting for him. I was big on Wilder, but I'm gonna have to abandon my position if he doesn't take a big step up by the end of the year, and this fight isn't it.
I didn't even notice that. Man. I just don't know. Look at Glazkov, also a bronze meddalist. In less than ten fights he just beat a good fighter in Bahtov, and even with the Ahunanya fight falling through, he found another credible opponent in Al Cole. Is it too much to ask that Deontay fights Al Cole?
What is Wilder learning in these fights? Seriously, one fight with a guy like Zack Page would be more beneficial for him than 10 fights against guys like this.
This has actually been pretty obvious for awhile. There is a REASON they are trolling the graveyards for Wilder opponents. He is going to get laid out cold as soon as he fights a live body, count on it.:yep
There's two ways to develop in the modern pro game- fight quality, or fight often. Wilder's obviously going with the second option, but at least he's going that route well since this will be his 8th fight in a little over a year. There's nothing wrong with following the George Foreman, JCC, and JCC junior blueprint. It'd be nice to see him step it up to a journeyman caliber of fighter by the time he gets to 20-0, but I'm not expecting real moves from Wilder until 2013 or so, regardless of the number of fights he has in the meantime. By that time he'll be 28, 29 years old with around 30 fights under his belt and enough training camps and time in the sport to have impoved. That's when I'd expect to see him fighting real contenders if everything pans out and for a guy with a late start in the sport, that's not bad.
