Wilder needs to put on weight and work on his coordination before he steps up in competition...this is why he is being moved so slowly.
Hes defense is bad. He has to learn. Journeymans like this... Thats not entertaining, but its good for Wilders future. He is still young.
What a terrible fight he goes from the top of the amateur ranks to the bottom of the barrel of the pro ranks at this rate he may not fight a guy with more than 20 or 30 pro fights tile he is 25-0 and that might even be an 0 and 20 guy when guys fall over in a minute from a jab you learn nothing when a guy cant stand for 5 rounds you dont get your endurance tested when a guy is counting the lights on the ceiling inside a round he didnt test your defense i wonder if he will step up or will he be the next Malik Scott fight in obscurity and never take a hard fight or will he run a padded record up to like 30-0 beating all bums and just go the michael grant route and earn a shot with a padded up record and get pulverized
the dude he is fighting aint even a heavyweight and has lost his last 4, 3 by KO. he was almost KO by sconiers a fight his team refuses to put up on the net
I agree on the activity if you blast a guy in 1 round why sit out a few months Do his hands bruise easily?
They're building up a great looking record for him. Who cares if he's not fought anyone yet? They're not focusing on improving him as a fighter, they solely want to give him an incredible looking record, like 27-0, 26 knockouts. It's the best way to create hype which is what the heavyweight division in America needs.
Wake up. His chin is ****ing CHINA. That's why his management is protecting him. Just wait til he gets laid out. Bet the FARM on it.
Well... Wilder had less than 30 amateur fights, and essentially earned the berth on the Olympic team, and eventually the bronze medal through sheer physical ability rather than as a result of skills learned in that environment. We're not dealing with someone like Rigondeuax, who had more than 300 contests against a high caliber of opposition before he stepped into the pro ring for the very first time. So it probably wasn't realistic for any of us to expect him to face a decent caliber of opponent right away. That said, Pena seems like a step down, even from someone like Sconiers (who admittedly dumped him heavily before being taken out), and I'm not certain how much Wilder can really benefit from a fight like this. I understand the need to stay busy, but I'm just not certain how much he can learn from a fight like this. Eventually, he's going to have to step up in class. And I'm not certain if the experience that he's gained thus far will have prepared him to take that step. Hopefully that changes, because the guy appears to make for exciting fights, at any rate.
I think Wilder's people know exactly what they have and they are gonna stay cautious with his matchmaking for a looooong time. Think JCC Jr. long.
he leaves his hands down too low, doesnt move his head, has terrible foot work, no balance, breland cant change him. oh, yeah, his chin is china. another american hype job
Wilder is learning his craft. He got a late start in boxing. Wilder has learn an accomplished alot since his amateur days. I have no problem with them going slowly with him will he his still developing.
