Vitali was designated Champion Emeritus because he vacated due to injuries. While he did get his direct shot at the title, the WBC refused him taking it agaist Maskaev and instead made Maskaev fight Peter (Don King's doing)......and when Vitali took back the title, he didn't get to make 2 voluntaries like Wilder has.....the WBC enforced JC Gomez as mandatory immediately.

Yes, VK is again Champion Emeritus and COULD come right back and take the title from Wilder, but it won't happen. He's done.

TLDR but lol at him "firing back" at Wlad for that interview. I thought Wlad was being pretty damned kind toward Wilder. I guess Wilder is just trying to hype their eventual fight (aka Wilder's L party).

 

Vlad knocking Wilder down with a jab while sparring for the Wach fight, beating Wilder from one side of the ring to the other and flattening Wilder with a left hook.........................Wilder is not in the same class as Vlad. As far as opposition...........................Vlad's opposition is far superior to Wilder's, Wilder has fought nobody.
