He's about as good as Primo Carnera, Buddy Baer, or Abe Simon, all of whom 6'2" Joe Louis sparked the **** out.

I'm the biggest Wilder critic, but yes he'd knock out Joe Louis. But then again, Manuel Charr would knock out Joe Louis so that's not saying much.

Maris Breidis KO'd Charr and he's smaller than Louis. Louis KO'd Carnera and Carnera was bigger than Charr. I think you should re-evaluate your suppositions. Think of Louis something like you'd think of Ali or Holyfield if you haven't seen his fights. That's the order of ability we are talking about. All of these guys beat multiple superheavyweights.

Watch Joe Louis **** up the 6'6" 250 lb Buddy Baer. Buddy Baer had 50 knockouts, 20 or so in the first round, and Joe Louis beats him like a child. It's brutal stuff.

Briedis isn't smaller than Louis. Very few modern cruiserweights are.

Briedis would also KO Louis. So would Usyk. Heck, David Haye would have KO'd Louis.

This isn't about height or weight in the first place, this is about era and how human development has handed modern day fighters massive advantages in stamina, punching power, general IQ and speed. Louis would get destroyed by any modern day fighter unless Louis massively outweighted them.

That's why fighers should be evaulated in their own era. If you want to stretch it, compare a fighter with opponents from adjacent eras (Think Marciano vs. Ali). But never, ever compare fighters that have 100 years between them. It's just unfair.

perhaps we should just fast forward to 2118 when a fat 300lb slob who can barely move and gasses instantly is the new norm being too evolved to lose to anyone previous.

That's why Lewis's answer above is an intelligent response. It's confident, but respectful in equal measure.

I think Wilder's mouth is as fast as that right hand and his brain is struggling to keep up.

I’m going to say this w/o reading the other comments first, as to not be influenced by other posters...

....Wilder absolutely would knock Joe Louis out cold, and if you think otherwise, ydksab.

He was 6'1" with 75" reach weighing 213 lbs the night he knocked out Charr. When he trains down he makes the 199 lbs cruiserweight limit. Joe Louis was 6'2" 76" usually trained down to about 203 but came in at 218 against Charles. He was absolutely bigger than Briedis. That's just a fact, like the fact that he decimated 6 foot 6 and 6 foot 7 250 pound guys.

Your position is that every modern day athlete is better than every latter day athlete. That seems like a dubious statement, to put it mildly, especially if you'd simply watched the video clip I posted above where Louis is bitchslapping and manhandling a giant. Briedis, Usyk, and David Haye never ever looked that good, even against smaller men. Watch the part where Louis punches Baer and he spins around 360 degrees before he hits the floor. None of the people you mentioned have that kind of power. Joe Louis was a 15 round fighter. He had better stamina than everyone you listed. And the footage also shows he had better ring IQ. I don't know who you could compare the Joe Louis of that clip to except for maybe a young prime Mike Tyson.

Yup. Joe Louis would shatter this glass chin, just like he did many others.
