AJ as I said I think that fight is 50/50

40 year old Povetkin isn't icing Wilder at this stage. He landed a honeymoon punch against Whyte but let's not forget he was put on his arse twice beforehand and if Wilder lands those shots, he isn't getting up. His legs also look shot to bits.

I don't think he was a hype job.

No one really rated his skills, and he can knock anyone out with one shot. Which gives him a chance against anyone.

Don't forget, he didn't get The KO in Fury 1, but he did actually knock Fury unconscious in that last round. There aren't many boxers in history that get up from that, and 9 times out of 10 Fury doesn't either.

If Fury doesn't make the count in that fight, we'd probably be living in a world with Wilder as undisputed champ having knocked out Fury and Joshua, with everyone sucking him off for his great timing and being able to rely on the power.

However Fury did get up, and bullied the bully in the rematch. Now everyone is making out Wilder is a full on bum. These same people proclaim Fury as the reincarnation of Jesus. If Wilder is that poor then we have no proof Fury is that great.

The truth lies somewhere in between. Wilder was a decent champ with ferocious power but came up short against a significantly bigger and heavier opponent who has very good boxing skills and ring IQ.

Neither are ATGs, and Fury>Wilder of course, but I'd still back Wilder against any other heavyweight.

Yeah but whyte was fighting a technical fight with povetkin, keeping him behind a constant jab, breaking him down with body shots etc. Im not sure wilder can do that with povetkin effectively. He could go in there an wipe povetkin out and i would not be surprised at all but still we have to see him beat multiple top opponents before we say he's at elite level with Fury and Aj

Wilder is past it as well now. He is around 35 and looked slow vs Fury.

The way it's looking I don't favor wilder against several top hws but that's bc I think fury broke his confidence before the fury loss I thought wilder was a top 3 hw now that remains to be seen.

Not sure how the ortiz wins are lucky considering be did it twice and the second win was easier than the first. So he can't outbox a Cuban master boxer. Losing rounds before sparking someone out is how lots of hws roll

Never said it was lucky but he was struggling greatly against him but because "he beat ortiz he beats everyone else besides fury and aj" according to this forum.

Lets be honest nobody was hyping Wilder for most of his career. He was rightly seen as an untested paper champion when Wlad was champion, the hype only really began when Joshua came along and people jumped on the Wilder bandwagon in the hope he'd beat what they thought was an over hyped Joshua.

Kind of ironic people over hyped an even worse fighter to try and expose another over hyped fighter, at least Joshua backed up the hype by trying to fight the best.

Wilder epitomes the terrible state of U.S heavyweights.

The man has the technical ability of a 12 year old amateur, and seems to have the same emotional age.

He goes way beyond a simple "hype job".

I'd say he's the worst fighter in professional boxing history.

Maybe one of the worst champions, but not the worst fighter

Fury is very decent at the HW scene, no matter what era we are talking about. Still he is going to lose against a lot of guys from the past, if we are talking about prime guys. Tho he got good reach, height, speed and movement and will beat a lot of guys as well.
But he is highly overrated on here by people that doesn`t know boxing very well and just hype things. They hyped Wilder, and now they hype Fury. They turn on AJ the moments he lost, and will do the same on Fury and calls him a bum.
If you fight enough and have long career and face top opponents, you will eventually lost. That doesn`t mean you are not good enough, but it just happen. Also that doesn`t mean that the guy beats you is better than you.
Simple example with AJ and Ruiz. I will also give a good example from MMA with Miocic and Cormier. No one gives Miocic a chance in the rematch, yet he beats him twice after that, and the fights were completely different. Same with Miocic and Junior Dos Santos.
Loss mean nothing if you face quality opposition. It will just come. Either because of age, or you got a bad day at the office or your opponent got his day and its lucky, or just outplays you, or he is just better than you.
