It was only because they counted the knockdowns of the KO round.

I suspect that the other difference is that Baer took a shot better.

A fighter like Baer or Wilder, who can essentially do it all based on power and reflexes, is a veritable unicorn in the heavyweight division.

The scoring was bad and Wilder in trouble. Then Ortiz at least age 38 tired and Wilder fought dirty and went for it.

Wilder deserves some credit for the win. His coming out party. It took nearly 40 fights for him to step up.

Paid off judges. Too much $$$ for Wilder vs Joshua.

    Boxing has a real problem.

Each judge gave Wilder the second round (ridiculous) and either the third or the fourth rounds (also bad, though I remember one of them being close enough for a 10-10 maybe). No way Wilder should have been up on the cards.

You know once you are 205 pounds you are a modern heavyweight right? You don't have to come into the ring weighing 260 pounds to be successful. Wlad Klitchko is around 6'6 and usually weighed arond 240. Most fighters today are either on PEDs or out of shape.

I am assuming you mean 185 pound Rocky Maricano who only faced 180 pound fighters or less. Rocky Marciano fan's are worse than Conor McGregor, Mike Tyson, or Floyd Mayweather fans combined. If Marciano was 185 pounds and beating modern size guys you could say size doesn't matter. But Marciano only fought guys who were either super middleweight, light heavyweight or cruiser weight by modern standards. Not to mention 180 pounds guys like Ted Lowry and Roland LaStarza beat him.

7-2 for Ortiz 6-3 being generous.

    The cards were shameful. Period

I think it's more than Joshua vs Wilder. Wilder has been pushed for long time now to be a star in America. Lot of money being used to get him where he is, American promoters desperate to get in on the money a hw champion produces

And Max Baer was wild. Baer threw roundhouses. Baer looked awful a lot of the time. And Baer would often quit in situations like Wilder was in last night.

The difference is, Wilder doesn't quit like Baer. Wilder doesn't start joking around to save face when he's losing.

Wilder just relies on his power.

Everyone wonders what Max Baer would be like if he had more desire.

He'd look like Deontay Wilder. 40-0. 39 KOs.

Max Bear took on many challenges and defeated far more top ten ranked opponents.

Do they each have big right hand and are a little sloppy? Yes, but that is as far as I will go. Baer is more durable.

It took Wilder 40 fights to reach his coming out party, and he waited for Ortiz to age, with what I suspect crooked judging and a ref that inexplicably gave Wilder a long break to recover at the start of the 8th.

You keep repeating yourself in every thread.

"It took Wilder 40 fights to have his coming out party. What about the scores. The ref played favorites. Ortiz was old. Blah, Blah."

I started a thread about Wilder and Max Baer and you are just copying and pasting the same comments in everyone's threads.

We get it. You hate Wilder. You have for years. You can't stand that he won again.

You say we need to give him credit ... and then you spend the next 200 words taking away that credit.

    You're a sore loser.

Get over it. He WON AGAIN.

    40-0.

This thread is about Wilder and another wild-swinging, often crude heavyweight champ.

It's a style that can work if you have the power and DESIRE.

    Something Baer often lacked.

Baer wasn't "more durable." He quit in a number of fights. Wilder never has.
