I'd guess he wouldn't be as light as he was for this fight (it sounds like illness may've accounted for a few lbs), but I'd expect him around 219-222. We'll see.

There had been talk he was sick for days now. And fighters never disclose stuff like that until after the fight.

That's why he wont fight AJ in the near future. Barely making the weight limit, Giving up 40 or so pounds of pure muscle mass against a big and fast Super hw.

Something’s definitely off. His power simply vanished when he started training down.

Back when Wilder won the title his trainer Jay Deas admitted that Wilder has very irregular eating habits such as sometimes only eating once a day and that Wilder is his own man, which is a nice way of saying Wilder’s stubborn.

After winning the title apparently Russ Anber was able to persuade Wilder into getting a nutritionist and a personal chef. They got Wilder eating more times throughout the day, but also got Wilder eating Pasta, vegetables, fruit, and fish.

I’ll try and see if I can find the video, but Wilder talked about how he got rid of his nutritionist and chef after the Arreola fight, since they didn’t make him any better.

Below is some information about Wilder’s chef and nutritionist at the time tweaking Wilder’s diet to help him put on size and hold weight.

Now she has a new challenge in helping bulk up the heavyweight champion.

McClain was the chef Bragg recommended, and after an initial meeting, the newly assembled team developed a meal and supplement plan that has Wilder growing bigger and punching harder than ever before.

The easy part was that Wilder was already in shape, even though his diet consisted of lots of pizza and even a Whooper every now and again. Before his first title defense last year, he conducted an interview with Sports Illustrated at a Waffle House.

"What we did was tweak it such that the muscle was getting fed every three to four hours and then put him on a strong supplemental program," Bragg said. "His trainer got with me and sent me all the boxing regulations, which you know I'm used to NCAA regulations and NFL regulations. We had to submit a list of everything that I put him on as vitamins and fish oil and such. We had to submit a list of the brand names and everything to the regulating body before his fight."

That's where McClain comes in. She delivers food to Wilder three times a week, two coolers full of fully prepared meals and the ingredients for easy-to-make shakes. At a recent workout session, she slipped in the side door while Wilder was in the ring shadow boxing. When he was done, his coolers of food – with the meals covered in tin foil – were waiting for him.

"It's kind of the Southern palate," McClain said. "We do a lot of pastas. He had a good knowledge of nutrition. Leading up to the fight he wanted his pastas and things like that. He likes his steaks and potatoes. We ended up switching it over to rice because he could only eat so many potatoes.

"The reason he did work with me specifically is because I am trained in cooking and nutrition. My whole job is to make it healthy without him knowing it."

Protein was the name of the game, and in order to keep the muscle fed, he must incorporate protein into nearly everything he eats.

It starts with a shake in the morning before his workout and another shake after. A large lunch with 10 to 12 ounces of protein follows, with a veggie or two and a starch. Because he has a bit of a sweet tooth, desserts are built in.

And, yes, even those feature protein.

"Like any Southern man, he loves his pecan pie, so we had to add some kinds of dessert to the plan," McClain said.

A snack in the afternoon follows, usually a big fruit salad or something of the like, then a dinner that's a little bigger than lunch, usually 12 to 14 ounces of protein. And lots and lots of protein powder to mix in his shakes, yogurt, and even eggs.
