After a brutal KO loss. He's 37 and did fine. What's Roy's excuse?

Roy Jones Jr lost 18 lbs from Ruiz to Tarver, won that fight, then was still "dehydrated" for the second fight. Yeah, bull****. Tarver had his number then his confidence got shattered.

Tarver shattered Roy’s Glass Jaw. End of discussion.

Stupid post and also weird random Jones hatred.

Roy got knocked out because he was old. The weight gain and loss did hurt him — remember, he started at 154 so comparing him to Wilder is idiotic — but mostly he was a reflex fighter who lost his reflexes.

In fairness Wilder's chin (or left eardrum) never got tested vs Helenius. We don't know what it's like after the most recent Fury loss and ageing to 38. He might be very glassy now.

This 25lbs of muscle lost for RJJ needs to stop. He weighed in like 193 for Ruiz. Hell some LHWs weigh that after rehydrating.

Wilder looking Juicy for that 3rd Fury fight

Meanwhile Fury didn't have any muscle mass and was quite skinny after spending most of his camp sleeping on a hospital sofa with no nutritionist or proper training. He came to the fight with a full beard looking like a hobo and won on pure heart and nothing more. Both his elbows were shot and had surgery on one of them post fight including nearly snapping his ankle in the 3rd round. He took many bombs from Wilder even dropping his hands and asking for more at the end of the round 10. Just like Ali before him Fury is an animal. He looks more like a model than a fighter. But what he is, he’s like a Tyrannosaurus Rex with a pretty face. He’s just mean and evil and he’ll take you in deep waters and drown you. It’s not muscle memory, it’s concentration. It’s him doing it. I can’t beat that man! Hell No!

Wilder got to small taste of Fury at full mass once and that Fury will drive fear into his heart for the rest of his career. Unbeatable. Wilder will continue to show the world what Fury managed to beat. A man with a real touch of death. It's no act or hype.

    Lol!
Well it was one fight and it really didn’t show us anything in regards to deontey’s chin. Didn’t really have time to. He got through first and caught Robert. I don’t think wilder’s chin is BAD but it’s definitely not strong either. If he gets clipped at all against Joshua he’ll go out imo.

He lost all of his reflexes from one fight to another. Haha. Nonsense. His confidence was completely shattered by Tarver, and when you rely on reflexes like he did, any slight hesitation will cost you. Nobody loses their reflexes in the span of a fight. That is an absurd statement. Did you see any gradual decline? No.

I don't hate Jones at all. But his fans are delusional and so is he. He was a frontrunner who relied on narrowly avoiding punches got away with doing things wrong. Tarver made him realize he was not invincible and that was his undoing.

Lastly, your point about Deontay being an HW and Roy starting at 154 actually is in my favor. If Roy is naturally smaller, putting on extra weight that is not natural for him would be easier for him to shed it later than Wilder who is naturally bigger.

But the thing is, Roy couldn't fight after Tarver. Not only did his chin let him down over and over, his skills were gone. Was already boxing badly vs Johnson right after Tarver.

Both is a time frame of about 1 year
With one having mandatory weight to make other then at least 200lbs.

    Roy’s was 174lbs from 193lbs

the only thing I can think of that could be the difference is having to step on the scale & weigh no more then 175lbs

Guessing Roy did it incorrectly by cutting weight at the last second as opposed to gradually decompressing.

if Wilder just did a slow gradually decomposition training & went about life taking a rest & a break
From all of it (fitness lifestyle) less protein etc

then gradually introducing the life style slowly & gradually back in - Taper & revers taper.

    that would make a
Huge difference to the body as it hates rapid / drastic change. - it’s a huge stress.

I'm not denying fighters can be drained. I think it's pure BS that he was drained for the second fight though. Nobody's body is that weak that you'd still be drained by then.

Considering how viscously Roy was knocked out, I'm guessing he was the one who forgot.

Wilder never should have gained the weight in the first place, should have stayed light and twitchy.
