For sure. Stiverne doesn't seem to want the step aside cash though. Prob because he realises that someone from the lower rungs might well take him out before he can get whatever payday he gets from actually challenging for a world strap.

His best opponent by a mile.

I reckon he shuts Ortiz out. Malik Scott showed how slow and ponderous he is, Wilder can get on his bike and fight behind the long jab and potshot his way to victory.

It will be a good win for him though and establish his name as one of the top 3 HW men today.

I suspect team Wilder researched this and are only taking the fight because they are convinced Ortiz will fail the drug test

I would not doubt that one bit, given Wilders hand-picked B and C level "career" thus far.

My head hurts. If Wilder does indeed fight Ortiz I don't want to hear about his age. Wald is damn near 3 years older than Ortiz and he looked faded as hell vs Tyson Fury. The narrative would be totally different if this was AJ. OMG he is being so brave fighting the HW boogyman. GTFOH. I like me some AJ like I like Wilder but there is a double standard here.

Wilder was en route to fight Povetkin IN Russia until Povetkin got popped for PEDs which was reaffirmed vs Stiverne. Totally Wilder's fault. He and Fury were going fight as well as they were promoting that fight for a couple years. Shortly after squaring up vs Wilder after his fight in NY Fury decided he wanted no part of Wilder and got fat and uninspired. Wilder then had to find a turn around fight quickly and suffered a broken hand and torn biscep. All this has set him back a year or two.

Now the WBC screwed him, not protected him, by handing Stiverne the mandatory spot that he clearly does not deserve. I will salute Wilder if he can get Ortiz. He could have an easy tussle with Stiverne or a career high payday for Whyte (who how does he deserve a fight vs DW by getting knocked out by Joshua or squeaking by Chisoira?). Instead if he gets the Ortiz fight he will be fighting one of the most dangerous HWs for a lot less money.

Get tired of the Wilder hate. He deserves some criticism for his opposition but a lot of it is out of his hands for the reasons I listed above. And I don't give a damn about his "lack of skill level". Guy won a Bronze medal and puts people to sleep. I'll watch him KO folks all day long.

Maganasakki or something like that. He sparred with 90's HW's, not Peter himself, and that's what multiple boxers from the era claimed.

$10 won. Too bad it was not possible to bet on that Ortiz gets popped, it would have been one of the safest bets ever in boxing.
