have been looking some of his "fights" ......he looks like a heavyweight Tommy Hearns i think....what,s your opinion about him ?
He's certainly got the potential... But I don't thing he will blossom anytime soon. It's one of those things.. We won't really know until he takes the step up in competition. One thing is for certain though, the HW scene is finally looking a little promising!
He is impressive but currently Toney would destroy and embarrass him. He should step up in class slowly and not rush to anything foolish. Maybe he should take on Monte Barret or someone like that next
Well, I really, really have my doubts with Deontay. He has almost exclusively fought total punchbags who were prepped to go out early (except 3 I believe) and has been in trouble against a couple of them. I wouldn't be suprised in the least if he turns out to be another Tye Fields.
Not the NEXT heavyweight champion. If he continues to put on weight and learns to protect his chin, he could be good enough to pick up a belt someday. But Helenius, Pulev, Glazkov, Boytsov, Perez, Ortiz, Mithcell, Stiverne, Price, and the winner of Fury-Chisora are all considerably ahead of him in terms of progress. Lets see Wilder go past the fourth round, and then we can start talking aobut championships...of the regional variety.
Same thought. He ain't any special, he has like what 17? fights with total bums and people make him another US Lennox Lewis. Hype.
It was a big step up, but that's the point... it's widely known Reed has a really, really bad chin and been past it for a while now. I was amazed old Toney couln't stop him, while Herbie Hide did it inside a minute and old Barrett also knocked him out in 2. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4WAUxUT4-g[/ame]
To be fair Reed run entire match against Toney. Toney dominated whole match and would have got KO, if Reed wouldn’t be so scared to death JT legendary skill set and slickness. Also Toney wanted to get some rounds under him, so he didn’t push KO from the start. Oh and Reed had trained months to face Toney, while JT trained only two days Anyway Wilder dosent have much experience, so I think they are bringing him up right way, keeping him active and only now raising his competition level.
Fair... But it says enough about Wilder's opposition that this was a big step up for him, or don't you agree?!
True his competition have been weak, but I think their main goal has been to get hard training done, while setting some easy matches, to have some goals in training. So they haven’t really been trying to get challenging competition before this one. Now they pick one opponent, who was clearly different level than previous opponents and as he passed the test easily. I think they will give him 2-4 these level opponents more and then look stepping up class again. If he keeps active enough, I really don’t see any problem, with this style of match making He only started boxing in 2005, so he is still learning
black american Wlad Klit. except not as strong, not as smart, not as athletic, with a weaker jab and chin. yep... americas next great HW
