I have not seen David Price; however, I have seen Boystov, and he DOES fight like he's got a stick shoved all the way from his ass to his neck. He looks like a stiff weightlifter and has no defense whatsover. He just uses his strength to overpower his limited opposition. If he got in the ring with someone like Haye for instance, he would be easily outboxed and knocked out. He has so many holes in his defense that can be exploited. He's just a tough man with gloves on. What promise do you see in him?
Deontay doesn't throw fluid combos at all, he loads up every time and wings telegraphed shot, it's the exact opposite of "fluid". He also doesn't move his upperbody or his head although he really hasn't had to so far because there's nothing much coming back.
My point is, he has a lot of athletic potential. If the current Heavyweight Champion was allowed setbacks and knocked out several times earlier in his career, I think a guy who just took up boxing but has massive athletic potential should be allowed some room to grow and develop.
Lol David Haye is your example of solid Defense? He gets tagged regularly by guys that are not nearly as long or as good as him, his defense is porous. His main defensive mode is to back up and fight off the back foot, not using head movement or any kind of elusiveness. You seriously don't seem to know **** about ****, are you a MichiganWarrior alt?
Regularly? You mean like when Valuev maybe landed 10 punches the entire fight? He looked real beat up against Ruiz. And Audley practically took his head off. I'll give you Barrett, but I think we both know what Haye's mindset and gameplan was that day. Not to mention the fact that outside the KDs Haye wasn't tagged very often. In fact Barrett went on record saying he was surprised at how small a target Haye presented. So what the **** are you talking about? You honestly think Boystov, who is essentially, one big, stiff target, is a great boxer? To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Boystov got beat by an MMA fighter as his skills are that rudimentary. Could you say the same about Haye or the Klitschko's? Hell no. But Boystov is that low. He's just a tough strong weight lifter, likely on steriods, that can punch. He has very limited skill and again, fights as if he has a broom stuck all the way up his ass.
He does not have more atheltic potential than Vyacheslav Glazkov. As for Helenius, yeah, he's stiff. So was George Foreman, Boncrusher Smith, etc. There are different styles of fighting. I hope Deontay does well, but right now, Helenius is light years ahead of him, and nothing that can be said about some imaginary quality of "slickness" negates that.
Everyone you mentioned from Wlad's career, directly or indirectly, named or un-named, would KO Wilder within two rounds. The guy is nothing but athletic-LOOKING. He's got a great body, but he's not athletic. There's little to no fluidity in his punches. I don't know what you're watching. But the guy is a grade B bum of a professional HW. He'll be lucky to make it to Ross Purity's level.
I still think he is at least a year away from being able to take on someone in the same league as Monte, perhaps someone like Zack Page would be a good fair test for him.
The fluidity in his punches maybe has something to do with picking up Boxing just 4 years ago or something...not athleticism, he has tons of that. He was a multi-sport star at his High School in Alabama and received scholarship offers from Alabama U I believe...couldn't follow up with them because he needed to support his daughter, who suffers from spina bifida.
