I just recently heard about this guy. 6'7 215lb with an 84" reach. He seems to be in rock solid shape in comparison to his height. Most 6'7 fighters today are fat slobs at 260lb. He has the physical tools. So far he is 10-0 with 10 knockouts in his young pro career. Appears to be a devastating puncher. Also had an extensive amatuer background.

Whats your thoughts on this guy? Is he the next real thing that we have been waiting for? Or he just another Michael Grant?

I know he is working with Mark Breland and they eventually want him to weigh 235 or so. Heard he is still raw and a project he has a devastating right hand

The man is a beast, won the bronze on something like 21 amateur fights going into the olympics. He is very raw, so don't expect to hear about him being a serious contender until he is in his 34-35 pro fight range.

He is the real deal to me. He has an absolutely brutal right hand and is developing his left. 235 is a bit much, I'd like to see him 225 or so. Limited amateur experience so no need to move him to quick. 20 fights or so before he faces a top 15 guy.

    Who knows?

Right now his record of 10-0 is filled with other fighters just starting out, or with records of 6-15. (Which I'm not really complaining about, I understand it, because he is just starting out.)

He appears to have the physical tools, but we'll really never know if he's a Grant or not until he gets hit with some big punches by decent fighters, which is probably several years down the road.

He does need to start putting on some weight though, he is just too skinny for someone that size, imo. I know his trainers say they want him heavier, but a year ago he was 220, and his last fight he was 218. But I really shouldn't be complaining, at least he's in shape!

His amateur career is decorated, but I wouldn't call it extensive at all. He only started boxing about 5 years ago.

I was pumping this guy up since the olympics on here. I truly believe that he can be a force in this division. He has the tools, size and the desire to be on top. Plus he is a quick leaner, he didn't even touch a boxing glove before the age of 19.

I've seen a couple of his fights. Once live in Tucson. Raw is a good word i guess. He lacks a lot of tools right now. he doesnt use his size very well, falls off balance a lot. Doesnt establish the jab like a man his size should ala wlad or lennox. Over commits his right hand which IMO he relies on too much. Then again maybe he was just trying to put people away early to build a record. Frankly, doesnt look liek that much of a natural talent to me. He does have size and strength and is in shape.

Will he become a complete boxer and a threat to the division? I doubt it. Until he improves vastly and I see his chin checked. I;m not sold and not buying in.

Waay to early to tell. I want to see him hit with some power first. Yeah he looks like he has some power and some skill. But I've never been sold on these real tall fighters. Most of them for some reason like for example( Michael Grant ,Wlad Klitschko) always seems to have glass chins. Maybe he we be great lord knows boxing needs him to be great.

Heard he trained under Mark Breland I hope Deontay doesn't pick up Breland's chin as well then I'd think he'd do alright. Still got a long way to go though, very very raw.
