I think he's a stupid POS for saying such things. This isn't the first time so he knows what he means and what reaction it's going to get.

And FWIW I think Mike Tyson was an overrated POS too.

Yep it comes down to this. Hence why Wilder and Shields try and be obnoxious to create interest in their careers. It's the easiest way to create a lot of media attention around them.

When I think of recent well marketed fighters Ronda Rousey comes to mind. Here was a woman who went on to become the dominant face of a male dominated combat sport, we may never see that happen again. She was marketed perfectly, yeah she played the badass but she also played this image of a good role model too with her back story being trained brutally hard by her mother, the positive body image for women, then "no basic *****" slogan and then of course the stories of her beating men up in real life and the talk of her and Mayweather. Mainstream media ate up the positive role model image she projected yet the MMA fans ate up the badass persona and dominant performances.

Every time I leave the gym,
    And pass the drinks machine
I see his face and think 'oh him'
    AJ's a marketers dream,

His sponsors pay him money see,
    A fortune so it's said
They like that he's a big success,
    Without wishing folks dead,

Wilder vs Breazeale must be selling like ice creams in the winter for such silly comments to be flying. Wilders next headline grabber ... "Dave Allen is ducking me! Best vs bast!"

Don't know why people are taking this so seriously. Deontay is the type of guy who says he wants to experience pregnancy ffs. He shouldn't be taken seriously.

Even if he does actually mean it, who are we to judge? We all support such a sport where the worst case outcome is death. If we felt a certain way we wouldn't support the sport.

Death is a possibility in any sport. It's a risk in boxing, but it's most definitely not the objective. In fact, there are various measures taken to avoid it, be that medical help on scene or rules boxers from hitting each other whilst down etc etc.

If death was the objective I wouldn't support the sport. Would you?

I don’t think anyone of right mind actively follows this sport to see a fighter die in the ring, nor do we actively encourage someone to try.

This is basically Wilder trying to drive up interest in his fight.

Didn't Wilder also say he wanted a body on his record?

Death ain't the objective, but inflicting pain certainly is... and who is too say how much pain is inflicted? A boxer will keep going until he is stopped by a referee.

Make no mistake, boxing attracts certain demographics, thugs of the street who didn't have anything else, competitive/aggressives who like to get bloody/physical...

Those who simply like the Gypsy king, lineage of bareknuckle champions...

These guys go into really hurt each other, and there is a fine line between hurt/kill when you are swinging for each others heads and the adrenaline is pumping.

    The referee protects lives.

He always says crap like this, then tries to play the sympathy game by bringing up his daughter in interviews. I've got no problems with boxers choosing a bad guy role, but if you do that embrace it. Wilder wants to play a bad guy one moment then play the people's champ the next. It doesn't work, and makes you look like a hypocritical prat.

Anyway, what exactly did Breazeale say about Wilder's daughter in the first place? All I remember is him going off on Wilder's disfunctional family life in that selfie video he took in his car. This was after Wilder had already disrespected him and attacked him in front of his family in what seemed to be pretty unprovoked manner. Though harsh and no-holds-barred, I can't recall anything he said that was actually unjustified. Breazeale seems like a pretty chill guy anyway, kinda like Parker, but someone who'll also defend himself if provoked. And even if he did say something a little close to the bone, it's nothing compared to the reams of flat out psychotic nastiness that Wilder comes up with on the daily.

At the end of the day though it's just words, and all of this will be settled on the night.

Us boxing fans are weird ones. While no one (I hope) watches a fight with the hope of seeing anyone die, most of us go in hoping to see a knockout or a good back and forth brawl, which would logically necessitate one or both of the competitors shipping dangerous levels of bodily punishment that will most likely be permanent. Very few of us relish the possibility of a fight involving minimal action or engagement.

So deep down I think, while we wouldn't actively wish for the death or disabling of any boxer, we're more prepared to lean towards that possibility if it means satisfying our desires.

If Wilder wanted to drive up interest in the fight he should promote it through interviews, talk shows, public appearances etc.

These are just the actions of an idiot who has no filter for his mouth.
