Wilder is a fraud being built up by his criminal promoter/manager. Vlad toyed with Wilder while sparring for the Wach fight. Wilder has no chance to beat Vlad or Vitali.

It's quite possible that Mago was the fighter they wanted for July 13th, sice it was a short-notice signing and Mago already trains in the USA.

Perhaps, once the July 13th event was cancelled, Mago had time to reconsider, and maybe actually watched some of Wilder's fights, and then changed his mind just like Chisora did once HE got the chance.

    No one knows.

This fight, sadly, is a big yawn.

Pulev has one of the best jabs in boxing. Wilder was majorly troubled by Kelvim Price's jab.

Do you think Wilder has all the sudden figured out how to come over the jab with a R hand?????:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh

    I certainly don't.:nono

I'd say there's a 0.001% chance this happened and a 99.999% chance he just doesn't know that Belarus and Russia are different countries.

Interestingly this is a significant step up for Wilder.

The division is passing Wilder by. He's going on 30 bouts fighting corpses and his ko stats are blown out of proportion. He has a better chance of being the new Courage Tshabalala than a proven threat.

Much better management job than David Price -- domestic bums and then a too-big step up to fight a mid-level contender in Tony Thompson, TWICE, and now his career is basically over.

This is a good step to fight a gatekeeper who has been at the top and never lost to anyone lower than world-class level, never been stopped in less than nine rounds and has never gone into the ring looking only to survive. If David Price had a few fights like this under his belt maybe he would have been ready.

As for Wilder being "almost 30," well, I guess 27 is almost 30. Not exactly old age for a heavyweight on the way up. David Price is already 30 and would have done well to take a little more time in making his move.

I agree saintpat it's a good fight for him to grow, but he meant 30 bouts not 30 yrs old

Mago would like at Wilder like I look at Steak...minimal effort, maximum enjoyment.

What really happened is the management looked for a guy that still has a name but hasn't been in shape or won a fight in a while. They Found Lyakhovich, and since an average american can't tell a continent apart from a country, let alone Russia from Belarus. The top part sounds silly though, Sergei hasn't been relevant in years.

Why did Mago turn down the Glazkov fight? I guess his management thought it was too big a step up.

Wilder refused to fight Thompson, who is, by far, the best American heavyweight. He would knock Wilder and Mitchell out, no doubt. Vlad has knocked Thompson out two times, not a TKO but a KO. Vitali would stop him also, but Klitschkos are the only ones who can beat Thompson, perhaps Pulev and Boytsov if Boytsov gets a manager and heals up from his surgery.

There was a big interview with Mago's manager, where they explained the situation, if you're genuinely interested I can find and translate it. But yes, Glazkov is a huge step up, high risk fight. Wilder isn't, he is too open and too wild for his own good.
