All bums: Kelvin price 13-0(6 ko) Damon mcreary 14-0(10 ko) Audley Harrison 31-6(23 ko) Damon Redd 46-15 (34 ko) Obviously none of these guys are great but not exactly tomato cans either.
kertswell was bermane stiverne best win and gets waaay more respect than wilder areola was a good win(not great) but other than that who has he beat? keep in mind he was being schooled by austin before he landed. so name some heavyweights out there right now that has a much better resume than wilder?
Wilder has terrible form. Any fighter with half-decent counter-punching ability would have a field day with him.
Kertson Manswell is remembered by me for getting th ever loving **** beat out of him by Mike Perez in the first round of prizefighter, he got dropped heavy in the first round and survived the next two, that's Manswells claim to fame, the only difference being that Manswell was actually in shape, and had a little bit of ambition (quickly knocked out of him by Perez) in that tournament Perez went on to beat Gregory Tony(Tony feigned an injury) in the semis, and stop Tye Fields within seconds in the final, that means that Perez' Prize Fighter run alone in one night almost shits over Wilders entire career, barring Audley...but that doesn't say much now does it? Tyson Furys resume is AMAZING compared to Wilders
Damon McCreary was a middleweight prospect from like FIFTEEN years ago, did you see that fight? It was embarrassing, and Audley Harrison had already been KNOCKED OUT (and in more impressive, disciplined fashion) in a round by David Price not 6 months before Wilder got to him You seriously cannot bring up Damon McCreary and Audley Harrison as good wins for Wilder in a 5 year, almost 30 fight pro career and say he hasn't been fighting bottom of the barrel competition
It's also important to mention that some of Wilder defenders often say "If he was white..." Well Tyson Fury is white and he gets nothing but hate (often for good reason dont get me wrong) yet his resume is HOF worthy compared to Wilders at this point
Fury gets criticized for his mouth. Wilder gets hated on for his level of comp and his flaws as a fighter. Of course, when a guy has natural talent but is wrought with flaws, why would you try to rush his development? Wilder didn't start boxing until he was 21. Sergio Martinez didn't start boxing until he was 20. Look at all the bums Martinez fought until about the age of 33 or 34. Margarito and Andrien Stone are the only names you'll recognize on his résumé before then. And of course, Margarito destroyed Martinez.
Hate? atsch There are far more accomplished fighters that get real hate here on esb by idiotic posters. Wilder is a big HW w/definite power and the biggest name on his resume is the shot to hell Harrison In his late 20s and nearing 30 pro fights he should be beyond fighting the Harrisons and Liaks of the HW div :-( I think he beats the shot Liak, but if he somehow losses he should pack it in. If Wilder doesn't fight a top 10-20 HW next it's clear his handlers have little to no confidence in him.
Wilder hasnt even peaked yet my friend! this guy is going all the way! He has been brought on nicely boxing often and slowly going up in competition getting the vital experience needed. Unlike our very own David Price whos been knocked out twice as soon as he stepped up to world class.
Look at alvarez, he was 36-0 before he faced anyone either. Now he is fighting the P4P #1 in the world. Just saying give him time he may come up still yet.
Richard Williams x2 was very very good form for Martinez, one of those was in the Kings Hall in my home city, Belfast, Williams put Martinez on his arse twice, Martinez got up to win
Regardless, Martinez had a slow rise to the top. Wilder is not as talented as Martinez and is going to need a lot of time to develop.
