Dubblechin and I go way back in time to a period in message board history that predates you even following the sport. I know his deal. I dont need his breakdown. I was taking apart his posts 25 years ago.

Larry Holmes would wipe his ass with Wilder. It doesnt take a deep analysis to figure that out.

For someone supposedly immune to the left, Holmes sure got nailed with an abundance of them by Weaver.

There isnt a single heavyweight great from Liston on that Wilder could beat. The man was a glorified Randall Bailey.

Now, is Holmes THE worst matchup for Wilder out of the greats? No. Tyson, Ali, Foreman, and Lewis would be worse for him. But his chances against Larry are still virtually zero. He's garbage and always was garbage.

Nor is he Mikey Weaver. Never did a man get so much praise for ADMITTEDLY avoiding the next toughest guy in a division, good grief.

Heavyweight Randall Bailey stops Holmes at least 1/3rd of the time.

Holmes wouldn't need 3 fights he'd beat Wilder in the first 2 meetings convincingly.

Yes Holmes got floored twice in 20 world title fights but if you're consistently fighting 3 times a year against multiple ranked contenders then you're bound to have 1 or 2 off nights.

I could see Wilder giving Holmes a few scares along the way and possibly dropping Holmes with his deadly right hand. But I don't see Wilder having the clinical finishing skills to beat an ATG like Holmes if he got him in trouble. And Holmes would either win a convincing UD or wins by late TKO.

If Fury can survive the danger moments vs Wilder then there's no reason to think Holmes couldn't.

Thats what this thread is really about. An attempt to bolster Fury.

Holmes was better than the cokehead.

Fury was dropped by objectively worse fighters though.

Fury got rocked and dropped by Pajkic an unknown with only 4 stoppages.

Fury got dropped by an MMA fighter.

Fury got dropped by Cunningham who had 1 stoppage in 12 fights at Heavyweight with an overall only 40 percent KO ratio.

My point is if Fury can be dropped by those fighters and then survive getting floored multiple times by Wilder who had 2 good chances to finish off Fury and failed. Then i fail to see why Holmes couldn't do the same and survive any rocky moments like Fury did i mean Holmes is an ATG and Fury isn't.

Fury was also grossly out of shape vs Wilder in their 3rd fight and still survived the knockdowns.

Holmes was a much better consistent performer than Fury and wouldn't be out of shape or lackluster. He would be in pristine condition against a dangerous KO artist and would survive in rocky moments and show his gulf in class to win comprehensively.

Thank you. Take Wilder out the equation and Fury has still been dropped and hurt more times than Holmes

Goes the same way the Fury trilogy (should've) went; Wilder loses 3-0. He doesn't struggle with the physicality of Fury in the latter two fights though, so the trilogy is a bit more competitive as a result. Wilder had better cardio than Shavers and was also quicker and more durable. He'd be a power threat that can randomly land all throughout.

I see Holmes going down a few times but still winning very comfortable decisions scoring wiise.
