I'll give Wilder his props in that he's exciting and fun to watch. His power is undeniable. But his resume is as soft as porridge.

Fury is more articulate and doesn’t whisper, that said I do prefer wilder over fury. Wilder seems like a nice guy trying to act like a bad guy tbh.

    Joshua > wilder > Ruiz > fury.

Fury is a very boring fighter to watch, I don’t know why anyone would want him to come out on top. He’s trying to be more a celebrity than a boxer these days.

Good post. He was one of the few not considered to win a medal, which he did. Gives us hellatious KO reels.
I don't bother too much with naysayers simply because every era's greats are usually questioned. It's when they retire that they gain respect.

When I was a kid I used to get so angry at how my uncles jaw-jacked Ali. As a young man they again pissed me off saying Tyson is just another Foreman waiting to get outboxed. And when he does...everyone will start whooping his ass.
To witness what I read about Wilder I can only but laugh. If he had skills I think many would say he's boring. If he doesn't talk much some will say he's just not appealing.
I'm cool with a flawed Wilder because it becomes that much more satisfying to watch the naysayers move the goal lines again saying well that guy was 275 years old. Yeah,. but he didn't fight that guy in the year 2018 between the months of April-June when the dude was in his prime. Yeah he won because his foe didnt have reyes gloves LOL!
But hey, I hear every sport has fans that can find a molehill to magnify to a mountain. Lord forbids if the athlete (Wilder) has a mountain of flaws.

The problem is that he hasn’t really fought anyone. He needs to beat the likes of Whyte, Fury, Joshua, Ruiz and even Parker to have a more impressive CV.

Instead he is rematching opponents he has already defeated.

Defeating an even older Ortiz again does nothing for his CV/legacy.

Wilder is coat tail rider . If not for AJ do you really think he could carry the division ? This is the question you need to think about when you say appreciate wilder. This is a FACT bc he was iin hiding when Klitschkos's ( TWO of them ) were around and if not for AJ actually fighting top guys outside the WBC how do you REALLY think it looks without him in 2016 ? lol

you simply cannot appreciate someone CAREFULLY manipulating the public,he may fool most casual fans but he cant fool me. as power puncher myself,i cant even respect his way of punching bc hes not a CLEAN puncher ,props to him for getting some doozys but overall ? I'll pass hes to sloppy.

If he wants respect he needs to earn it.

He's fought Tyson Fury that had been out of the ring for 2 years - AND LOST

He fought ortiz who was not only old and passed his best but a guy that has never beaten anyone of note himself. And he was seriously hurt in this fight....

The rest are not worth mentioning...

So until he fights and beats 2 or 3 top 10 guys how can he hope to have a legacy or go down as a great.

    Hes totally unproven.

Yes Joshua has a loss, but at least he has beaten 3-4 solid top 10 guys to know where he is at.

Wilder is a myth, how do get to be an unbeaten 40 plus fight pro with a world title and have fought Nobody it's a joke.

Underatted no cos he does not fight no1's like Whyte where AJ did.
Let Wilder face the top guy's In H/W then he be ratted better by the fans.
Atm it's hall of bums for Wilder Fury is by far the best he has faced todate.

If anything he is overrated, we can't judge a lot based on his lack of competition for the most part

The first 4 years of his pro career was a complete joke. Some of his title defences, his “title eliminator” against Malik Scott, also jokes. And then there was his management saying that he was prospect, that he needed to be brought along slowly despite being a titlist with 30+ fights.

But the past is past. He would’ve fought Povetkin(not the current old plodding Povetkin, one that was a wrecking machine), but Sasha ****ed it up. He fought Ortiz in a voluntary defence, a guy who was a legitimate threat to him, and proved in their fight that he was indeed a legitimate threat until Wilder’s power bailed him out. Then he signed to fight to fight Fury, another legitimate threat, again in a voluntary defence. And even if you don’t think that Fury wasn’t ready, he showed that he was ready enough to beat Wilder(if only he could stay on his feet), and Wilder, knowing that Fury is fully capable of beating him, he still wanted the rematch.

So no, he’s not the joke he once was any more. He’s a guy who wants to prove to be the best in this post Klitschko era, his willingness for the Fury rematch proves it. And then you factor in his level of activity, the high drama in his fights, knowing that either one of the fighters could get KOd at any point, underappreciated it is.

If you remember back after Fury beat Vlad, they were talking about fighting. I can't say whether the fight would have happened at that time or not, but it wasn't Wilder's fault Fury went on a self destructive binge for 2 years. I think it's highly unfair to say the only reason Wilder fought Fury was because Fury was out for so long. Fury was the one saying he could come back right from the couch, without a tune up and clean out the division. You know how Fury fans took those statements? They agreed with Fury! Once the fight was penned, their tune changed and started in on Wilder with this he only took the fight nonsense. LOL

He epitomises the way people are over-hyped in todays world.

There isn't anyone on his record, bar Tyson Fury (maybe Ortiz), who can be considered as a top quality opponent.

Are we supposed to praise a guy for knocking out bums?

If i strut around town acting the tough guy and k.oing people with one punch, but then it turns out I'm actually picking on 12 year olds and old biddy's, does it really mean much?

When Wilder knocks out Joshua, and/or Fury, and Whyte, and Parker, and Ortiz again, and does so with this famed power, then I'll change my mind.

Until then he's just a poor technician, has a terrible persona, is classless and crude, and has knocked out maybe 2 guys who were in anyway even half decent.

So, no, he's not underrated or underappreciated, he's most definitely OVER-rated and is given too much praise for such a poor record.

An all time great he is not; not yet anyway, based on his current resume...not in any way, shape, or form

I never understood the hate for Wilder, he’s always exciting and delivers nasty KO’s, what more can you ask for? His technique is not the best but that makes it even more exciting.
