And so would Jeffries, who could fight low making it difficult for a tall person to reach him, and had a nice slip and duck type of defense, combined with good footwork and more than enough power to stop Wilder, who has the legs of a newborn deer and certifiable glass around hhis chin. Wilder is set for his 5th title defense and still has not fought a top ten ranked opponent in his title matches.

Jeffries no doubt was an ATG. Heck he was for 80 years listed as an ATG hwt champion. I will alway choose a ATG hwt champion in a bout vs an unproven contender.

 

That being said Jeffries did receive flack in his own time regarding the size of his contenders. JL Sullivan wrote a scathing article where he belittled Jeffries for fighting middleweights.
