Because it doesn't change how I view the potential fight.

I would give Jeffries every opportunity of succeeding in this fight. If that means he gains 10 pounds, so be it. If it means he doesn't add any weight at all, fair enough.

For me, size is a variable and not a constant.

Going into the future is a lot harder than adding 20lb.
I agree with what you're getting at though.

Not in any source that I have read.

Doesn’t mean that it is not the case, but unless I see a primary source, I am going with the most commonly quoted figures.
I think that the jury is out on that.

You occasionally hear testimony that makes you think that perhaps Jeffries was in that power category.

Jeffries wasn't a brawler or an inside fighter.

He was an aggressive counter puncher on the back foot from what I've read.

He will force the issue when required but it isn't his natural gameplan.

I wish I could see film of Fitzsimmons in the rematch. Stood in front of Jeffries firing hard sharp punches whilst slipping everything coming back at him.

Also watching Jeffries seize his opportunity with a big combo against the run of play.

It's a bit troubling that Jeffies couldn't keep a flat footed sharp shooter at range, and it makes you question his ability considering that was his main strategy.

If Wilder tries coming to Jeffries will be really be able to keep him from advancing? It's hard to say because we've not really seen Wilder cracked by a legit puncher, but we don't even know if that's Jeffries.

As I say, the best I can come up with is thinking about how Peter fared in modern times.

Just too many unknowns to be confident with a pic.

The ringside reports suggest that Fitzsimmons fought on the back foot in this fight.

One even described him as fighting more like Corbett.

Interesting that, makes me wanna see it even more.

He looked very much foot planted against Corbett, seeing him light on his feet using ambush tactics would be a great find.

Ed Morbius provided one and Box rec agrees.Photos of him standing with the slightly under 6ft Fitzsimmons show them to be on a par height- wise.

I have seen his height listed as being as much as 6' 2.5'' in some sources.

He appears to be about the same height as Johnson.

I am inclined to take the middle road on this.

Reports say Fitz abruptly stopped fighting dropped his hands gestured to Jeffries and said something to him.Fitz said his hands were smashed to uselessness. Some ringside observers said they heard him say to Jeffries,"hit me Jeff, hit me and get it over", but the noise was deafening so this may be untrue.
Why would Wilder need to come to Jeffries ? He is 7 inches taller and has6.5inches of reach on him.
We never saw Jeffries cracked by a 228/230lbs lbs giant either.

Testimony that refers to him stopping who, 39years old super middleweight Fitz,or 36 years old 183lbs Corbett? Any testimony of him stopping a prime superheavyweight?

Just the testimony of the fighters who were on the business end, regardless of their size.
