Doesnt mean much is all I am saying. And it reinforces you being a paper analyst.Which isnt a bad thing but most paper analysists get too enclosed in the statistics.
Tua had the success he did when he was alive. But a 5'10" HW whose name isn't Mike Tyson is not challenging the super heavies of today. As I said before, Tua had next to no success against men over 6'3" To circumnavigate this fact, (edit: Markus Florez) is pretending Tua could beat Wilder because he landed a couple of jumping left hooks on Lewis in a fight he looked extremely limited in. He was just too short and plodding to be a favourite against the modern super-heavies, unless they are going to stand there and trade with him in the pocket, in which case we might get an upset. If you look back Tua was stopping guys by unloading on them in the pocket. Wilder might not be the smartest fighter or technically adept, but he tends to like to keep people on the end of a jab and pot shot them with the right hand from distance. For the reasons above Tua is going to struggle to actively close the distance. This idea he is slipping inside the jab at will and launching jumping left hooks is fantasy. So his likely plan is to try suck up punishment (against Wilder?!) then try for a late KO when Wilder is tired. That is an extremely risky strategy. Or to put it simply: Tua was 5'10" and a one-time contender Wilder is 6'7" and a long time champion The height difference would be way to great Now you can say my analysis is too much of a paper analysis. Sure. But so far all I'm reading (not necessarily from you) as a response is: Wilder bad, Tua big left hook, good night Wilder.
Lewis's chin is certainly better than Wilders as he's beaten blows from Holyfield, Briggs and Klitschko. Getting put on bambi legs by a left hook from bum Molina says everything. The way to beat Tua is to either beat him in a brawl or outbox him. Wilder will do neither and will get wiped out.
So you're saying Michal Grant beats David Tua because he's 6'7 ? You're saying David Price beats Tua because he's 6'8 ? LMAO
hahaha he probably would! But, no, I'm saying a long reigning world champion who is 6'7" beats Tua because the height difference would be too great to overcome and Wilder didn't get to where he is by accident.
Wilder was a long reigning champ because he fought nothing but bums and his only good win was against dinoasur Ortiz who was actually dominating him until has trillion year old legs ran out. Wilder is a monster puncher but he cannot box, which is something you had to do in order to beat Tua (besides Ike Ibeabuchi because he was a great inside fighter)
Now that is a qulity post and analysis. Not because I agree with you necessarily but because you went about it the right way. Altough you know very well that "one time contender" and "long time champion" stuff is make believe.Again paper stats.Tua beat what...4 paper champs and got only one real title shot.Had he had been given paper belt shot after paper belt shot like the likes of Ruiz he surely would have had one.It was all management. Like the way Wilder's WBC title run was maintained. But that is irrelevant. I do see some points of your analysis but I jsut think that a mid 90s Tua on his best day gets inside on Wilder and has the know how and guile to avoid the missiles coming down on him just enough in order to get to a frustrated Wilder late on. I ve never seen Wilder punch downwards that much either tbh. Good post though.
Tua 9 times out of 10 will defeat The Windmill. I think Tua is a bit overrated but he has a fine chin and good enough skills and power to put away Windmill. It's a bit of a myth that if Windmill lands you are gone. It took him a good while to get rid of the pastry chef, the special needs teacher and the ancient man from cuba. So granite chin Tua could take The Windmill's power long enough to break him.
Can’t see how you could vote against Tua. He had great power and a diamond coated granite chin reinforced with titanium. He took the best punches of hard hitting HWs and was never stopped. Wilder might catch him but I don’t think he would stop him. Ibeabuchi and Lennox Lewis couldn’t knock him out. Ike flamed out with huge personal issues and incarceration but he was a special HW who could have been one of the best in his era. I was sad to see him go off the rails. If Tua fought Wilder (via time machine) it would have been fireworks and my money would be on the shorter man. He was a tough guy in every sense.
Gotta go with Tua here Just competed against better fighters and might have been able to take Wilders straight ride
