I'd favour Wilder I think he has a better chin plus his height and reach advantages would be a factor.

Both don't seem to have good technique. Wilder is much taller than Shavers, but there isn't a significant reach difference (Shavers 80 Wilder 83) It all comes down to who lands their overhand right first.

Wilder is a heavy favorite here for me. Better chin. Better stamina and the height and reach to land earlier

Yeah as much as I have crapped on Wilder in General, the fact is that he always seemed to manage to starch out any low level guy he fought. Shavers on the other hand has some embarrassing losses to journeymen. Wilder's straight right seems faster and more accurate to me. So I'm leaning towards him. Shavers will do well to bore into Wilder, rob him of his space and maul him close. He could do it since Wilder's footwork is iffy.

Don't see any advantages for Shavers except MAYBE Power.

Wilder but Shavers is a REAL live underdog especially early in the fight.

Wilder was almost knocked out by journeymen... more then once.

Sure I'd favor him in a H2H match but that's because of size and length advantage.

Shavers was almost knocked out (dropped for a 9 count) and beaten by a clubfighter.

Wilder is the favorite now, so I will offer the counter position.

Consider the possibility that Shavers built his reputation as a puncher against more elite fighters.

Wilder was rocked by multiple no-hopers coming up.

We're talking about a guy who went life and death and got touched up by Johann Duhaupas, a fighter who's the very definition of a modern unexceptional journeyman sort... and not one who could punch.

For my money both Shaver's and Wilder were glass cannons who were always a good punch or two from defeat... Wilder just had a much better set of managers and matchmakers and fought in a weaker era.

What’s his record against those fighters again?

I don't think Wilder's record would be perfect if he fought as many fights as Earnie did either. He had a manic schedule early on... and he fought until he was literally 50 years old.
