THE most beautifully balanced Heavyweight, (The first to make a virtue of it anyhow) against a guy who may as well fight in clown shoes or steel toe capped boots. Wilder is going to keep falling over, face first, throwing rights with his feet crossed and missing Johnson. Jack times the hype job's comedy around the third and plants him.
Such a silly match, We have no evidence either could work the others rules. most likely Deontay KOs him brutally under modern rules.
IMO: Assuming that Johnson gets to see some Wilder fights and is aware of his power and style of fighting, I would go with Jack Johnson by unanimous decision.
Wilder because he is too big and too strong for Johnson, Johnson was a boxer ahead of his time and would probably win a few rounds against Wilder but in the end Wilder's strength and athleticism would be too much for Johnson...
Correct. Under 1910s rules, I think Johnson wrestles him for 10 or so rounds until Wilder is so tired he can't keep his hands up and gets K.O'd. The idea of Wilder fighting 20, 30, 40 rounds is just hilarious to me.
The 6’1” Johnson would have a hell of a time trying to tie up and clinch the 6’7” Wilder all night. Eventually Wilder lands a sleeper on Johnson’s chin in the mid rounds. Johnson’s greatest success was against much smaller opponents.
My opinion as well. Johnson did what he did very well, but he's got to wear Wilder out before Wilder lands his nuclear right hand. Personally I think Johnson goes to sleep before Wilder gets tired.
He carries his power late (a lot of punchers don’t) and I don’t remember ever seeing him gassed. At the pace they fought in those days I don’t think modern fighters, including Wilder, are likely to fall out. As for the fight, think Hearns-Duran with Johnson reprising the role of Roberto.
