Deontay Wilder vs Joe Frazier

I don't think the piece-by-piece bit applies much.

I see Joe ending matters quite early, round 3 -6.

There's always a chance Wilder lands his big right and either KOs Frazier or TKO's him a la Foreman.

But Joe will be coming forward from the opening bell...both men weigh about the same...and Wilder can't box off the Blackfoot.

Joe would test Wilder's whiskers early and often and I believe Joe's left hook was more dangerous than Fury's.

I give Wilder a 10 % chance of KOing Joe.

If he doesn't, then Joe stops the Alabaman in one-sided fashion.

I don't think I've ever read someone refer to ANY punch of Fury's as being "dangerous". He's just not a dangerous puncher, never was.

 

I'm not picking Wilder over Frazier

Frazier comes in and punishes him to a KO victory ... No way this two left footed off balanced one trick pony defeats Joe Frazier

If Fury can survive Wilders power than Frazier who was all heart will get up if he gets caught as well

 

I agree. One of the biggest myths in the sport.

 

Someone like Cooney was closer to that classification. I think because Joe was wont to pitch that left hook so often, plus the fact that it was the usual killing blow, it made people kind of underrate his defensive abilities (plus, his Norton-level right hand...which btw was no joke in either man.)

Yeah, he got hit a lot by Ali in FOTC...I don't think there was a fighter around who wouldn't have got hit a lot by Ali during that specific period...post-exile or not.

 

He got hit by Ali a lot but he also made Ali miss a lot. I believe his slip and duck rate for that fight was the highest of any HW.

 

Joe, when on to that intensity, was an amazing Boxing Miracle imo. To me the FOTC Joe was h2h unbeatable.

 

I wouldn't say he was unbeatable (I don't think anybody is), but he's even money against anyone (on that night of course).

He wouldn't be close to even money against the foreman he actually fought. Foreman would chew him up and spit him out.
