Wilders team has shown their lack of belief in him through the path they have chosen to get to this point. To drastically change that approach on the eve of a AJ fight seems baseless and foolish.

Everyone keeps saying 'yes but IF wilder can beat Ortiz, then.... ect ect', but thats just it.... contemplating that IF right now, if you are in charge of Wilders career, is just a bad move.

The smart move is to just get straight to the biggest possible fight of your career against AJ, and apply that same IF Wilder is good enough to beat Ortiz, directly to the AJ fight. Because IF Wilder is good enough to beat Ortiz, hes good enough to possibly beat AJ, and if he beats AJ, he becomes the star he wants to be.

Better to save that IF for the AJ fight, imo.

Either he wins, and he becomes a name overnight and sets himself up for the big money in the rematch, or he loses, gets the best payday of his career still, and can go back to the drawing board and get built back up.

Smart move is to just make the AJ fight.

AJ is not paying him because he has other options. Wilder has no choice but to look elsewhere. This idiotic 50-50 demand is not coming into fruition at this point in time.
You have to remember Ortiz got busted for PEDs like 3-4 times in his career. At this stage he's old and without PEDs. Wilder fancies his chances in this fight.
