He put a 6'4 fighter in a wheelchair the rest of his life. What's another 3"? To answer your question yes he can reach his chest. Harold sconiers reached Deontae's chest and Deontae did not react well to it lol...
Wilder chin is questionable.. & his best win are an old stiverne. rocky absolutely are wilder best opponent, wilder will fight ATG. if rocky can land 1 of his power shot to wilder jaw it's over..
That 6'4" fighter was a 17 fight novice 189lbs string bean Of his 17 fights 9 of them had losing records and he still only managed 6 stoppages.Vingo had also lost one of those 17 to Joe Saunders 2-0-1 Vingo hovered between life and death after the fight true, he suffered a brain contusion,a slash or tear, but a contributory factor to his condition was that after taking the left hook that knocked him out his head struck the ring floor heavily. Vingo did not spend the rest of his, life in a wheel chair he worked for 20 years as a security guard. Everett Skehan in his Marciano biography states that Vingo could not work for a year after the fight, but then resumed his employment. When Vingo was working at his last job as a security/watchman Peter Marciano spent a few days with him and they drove to Camden NJ to meet Jersey Joe Walcott , he stated that after the over an hour long journey Vingo walked with a limp when he got out of the car. Carmine was a guest at Rocky's wedding .
So the point is Marciano has the reach to land a power punch on the chin of a 6'4 man ? Correct? By the way bingo was considered a major prospect in 1949. Some thought he could be the next world champion. Vingo himself never wanted to be a long term fighter, but the potential was there. Charley Goldman and whitey bimstein claimed bingo hit very hard. Marciano claimed in 1962 bingo hit him like no other man There's evidence vingo may have been 27-3 when he fought Marciano http://classicboxingsociety.blogspot.ie/2015/02/blog-post_8.html
I pick Marciano at this stage. The point is, you made a statement that Vingo spent the rest of his life in a wheel chair that is total bullsh*t.. I'm assuming you made genuine error as I don't see you as a deliberate liar Suze. "after making a miraculous full recovery from the Marciano bout injury, Vingo married his high school sweetheart and worked as a 'security porter' (as he called it) at an office building in Manhattan on Broadway for many years" Vingo was Rockys guest at one of the Walcott fights and paid his own expenses to be at Marciano's funeral. Vingo may have hit hard, the reports of the fight say he rocked Marciano several times. but his ko record is as follows : Al Robinson debut ko1 Johnny Williams 2-6-0 ko4 Jimmy Walls 3-9-1ko2 Tommy DiGorgio 6-2-0 tko4 Earl Turner 2-18-0 ko2 Barney Metten 6-0-0 Out of the 6, only 2 had winning records, that is Lamar Clark territory .If you can dig up any more fights for Vingo ,we will all be glad to see them ,until then he remains a 16-1-0 novice Anyone seeing him as a future world champion off of his record going into the Marciano fight must have been a blood relation! By the way that link you provided shows Vingo coming out of the hospital walking with a cane, he never used a wheel chair and after a few weeks threw away the cane.
no wheelchair ok. He still ended the career of a young 20 year old man. That's not the point, the point is Marciano is capable of delivering a knockout blow on a 6'4 man. Did you read the article? It stated vingo has a lot more fights than his record implies. Marcianos biography lists vingo as 27-3 Vingo was a big prospect in 1949. Read the papers at the time. Vigo was young big 6'4 190-197lb, packed a hard punch according to whitey bimstein and Charlie Goldman....only 20 years old. I would say that's s lot of potential. He also rocked Marciano and fought him savagely, which proves he had serious potential because Marciano was an animal!
Stop kidding yourself. He looked small compared to Ali. http://s23.photobucket.com/user/ROOFIEREEFER/media/marciano-ali2.jpg.html
Now here's a modern match up against a much taller opponent that I would pick Marciano to win by brutal KO. Wilder is a one trick pony with a suspect chin. Marciano probably hits hard enough to hurt him, and is sturdy enough to take Wilder's punches, but his stamina and work rate would just cut through Wilder like a buzz saw. I see Marciano softening up Wilder's body, shaking his chicken legs, and then going upstairs to end it with a crushing left hook to the jaw.
Vingo was 189lbs for their fight. You need to produce more than a vague," he had several more fights ,"which by the way it says he did not win all of.
It did say he had a dozen consecutive knockouts Bingo was 197 in another fight. By age 25 I bet he fills out to 205-210
