Ruslan Chagaev's head comes spinning right off. I don't know when, but that's what would happen, much to the dismay of Ramzan Kadyrov.
I think the result would be pretty close to Wilder vs Stiverne I. Except that Chagaev would have won maybe won a few rounds.
Chagaev would have outpointed him. Too fast, skilled and iron chinned. Sultan Ibragimov would have done the same.
Though he didn't usually show a lot of power in the pros, I believe he would have found Deontay with a good, straight left, and that would have been all.
Chagaev would've KO'd him no doubt. In addition to being an excellent technician, with an iron chin, a 2 x world amateur champion, and a thumping left cross, we're talking about someone who beat the legendary Cuban Felix Savon x 2 when he was just 19 y/o IIRC, Savon's nephew Erislandy would spark D out cold, let alone his uncle. The chasm in terms of skill between Chag and D is so vast you'd need the world's longest tightrope to cross it. This content is protected
I believe Wilder would cut him down at some point. People really rag on Wilder but he's clearly not an easy man to knock out and I don't think ruslan is surviving 12 rounds against him without a reach advantage like Fury had
Chagaev wins every round until he gets iced late IMO, though plausible that he stops Wilder before than
Wilder has no way to keep guys off him. Chagaev would close the gap and choke Wilder's distance. I think he roughs him up close and stops him.
Possibly. Chagaev packed a lot of explosive power in his shots. His straight left was also pretty well timed and hard to read, as well as hard to counter due to how he'd throw it out of a tight crouch high guard and immediately either dart back out again or smother his opponents in close. Wilder is pretty light on his feet and twitchy so I'd lean towards him surviving Chagaev's assaults, though his head would be snapping back like a bobblehead doll throughout the contest. Possible he could get dumped on his backside but I don't see it as being much more than a flash knockdown.
A prime Wlad in peak condition couldn't put Chagaev to sleep. The most he could do was get a flash knockdown and a ninth round corner stoppage. Needless to say Wilder won't be landing anywhere near the frequency or quality of shot and will be taking tons back in return, so Chagaev would have to really take his eye off the ball to get caught with a fight ending shot, and given their respective styles I can't see that being a very real probability.
