Who've we got currently that will give Deontay some rounds and something coming back at him and who's not likely to fold in the first 3 rounds. Name 'em! I suggest for starters..... Thompson Arreola Chisora discuss........
It looks like Wilder will be fighting the Arreola vs. Mitchell winner. So if Arreola wins, we can see how he handles a durable fighter.
I can almost see the posters. "The unstoppable right hand vs the unbreakable chin" "When two world colide" and so on hahaha.
based on what? knocking out guys not in the top 100? Wilder will get KO'd by the 2nd round if he gets into the ring with a guy like Arreola
mitchell/arreola fight is great but they should have just made the mitchell/wilder fight from the get go. i like jennings/wilder as well. mago/wilder andy ruiz/wilder the type of fights i would like
There's a reason why Wilder is fighting bums. It's because he's a bum. Getting him in a ring with someone with a pulse will only get him ktfo.
Dominic Guinn would (sadly) be a big step-up. He's durable and not completely-and-utterly shot, which makes him levels above Wilder's competition so far. I'd be very surprised if he went from non-entities to the Arreola-Mitchell winner.
I feel where you're coming from. However, let's look at the recent track record of GBP. Everyone said Mayweather vs. Alvarez wouldn't happen this September, and it is. Everyone said Garcia vs. Matthysse wouldn't happen, and it is. Everyone said Broner vs. Maidana wouldn't happen, and that fight is close to being done. People were saying Khan vs. Alexander wouldn't happen, and that fight is done. Schaefer has stated numberous times that he wants to match Wilder against the Arreaola-Mitchell winner. Lately, Schaefer has been able to get the fights done that he says he wants to do. All 3 of those guys are with Haymon, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get the fight done.
Those fights all make sense though, in that every fighter is (relatively) proven and has fought opponents of a certain level. The pessimism regarding whether they'd be made was more down to how the boxing business works, the money involved etc rather than anyone taking a drastic step up. If Wilder had beaten even someone like Helenius or Kevin Johnson, a match-up with Arreola/Mitchell would seem like a natural progression. This seems like Garcia going straight from facing Tyrone Wiggins to Matthyssé.
