Me too. I'd pay to see Wilder fight before Joshua and Fury, any time. He's far more interesting to me. I just wish he'd work on that jab. A lot. He would be so much more effective....devastatingly so.
Yeah Wilder is exciting in that you know no matter how cautious he is sitting back doing nothing for long stretches that one punch can change or even end the fight. It's cat and mouse.
Like all big punchers, it's reasonable to speculate that Wilder's chances are good in all weathers. But we've seen what some half-decent boxing can do to his aura of menace. We've also seen someone get up from his shots and hold him to a draw (in a bout Wilder was lucky not to lose). If Wilder doesn't land, I'm not sure how he can beat any of the guys listed. Even if he does land, it's no guarantee that this settles the matter and he quite likely still loses to all of them. In general, I think it's unwise to back a fighter to beat good to elite opposition, when they have been seen to rely almost entirely on poor to mediocre opposition and one big punch to win a fight.
You guys can't be serious...I would strongly favor all of these 5 guys over Wilder. Witherspoon with his pressure fighter style, unusual cross-arm guard similar to Ken Norton and strong and fast overhand right would have destroyed Wilder. Wilder has a few things going for him in these matchups with Mercer and Tua. Reach, athleticism and that right hands that isn't stronger than Vitali's punche. Mercer and tua have more things going. One of the greatest chins in history. While They didn't have Super foundamentals, tua and mercer can box a lot better than deontay. Wilders speed, size, spirit and athleticism will allow him to make a fun show for a few rounds. Then Ray and tua would just manage to give him a punishing beat down. Tony Tucker with his great outside fighting style, strong chin, great jab would jave chopped wilder up like a carrot for a stew. Wilder has a puncher's chance, but that's it. Morrison who boxed waaaaayy better, would have knocked Wilder out with his fearsome left hook.
