I think Wilder would have a tough time with Galento’s style considering how low Galento got under punches, how durable Galento was, and how good Galento was in sneaking in his left hook. If Wilder went into the fight and focused on getting the decision he might beat Galento, but if he forces the right hand Galento would eventually time him and knock him out.
I'm not nearly as high on Galento as many in Classic are, but it's a crappy style matchup for Wilder. Galento would be all over him, robbing him of his space and leverage. I could see Galento winning this.
Well, at least Galento is under 36 and he was a #1 rated Ring challenger ... so he qualifies for Mendoza's EXCELLENT/EXCEPTIONAL opponent status. But, in an era where people claim Ortiz is 50, the Galento in that video would have a hard time convincing people he just turned 29 (like he claimed before he fought Joe Louis). Against Wilder, I doubt the 5'9" crouching Galento would be able to land a single punch above the belt. (LOL) Wilder destroys him in short order, then gets crucified because Galento was a short, fat drunk. They did it to the exceptionally talented 6'9" Ring Champ when he challenged Wilder, why not the 5'9" wild-swinging untalented challenger. Nothing new.
Wilder win a TKO in the 6th, Galento gets knocked down and the ref has mercy. Oh by the way Wilder comes in at 6’7” 231 and Galento waddles in at 5’9” 200.
