“Yeah, we gonna adjust the weight,” Wilder said during a recent gathering with reporters. “We gonna do a lot of things. You know, especially with the weight. Because these guys have out-weighed me the majority of my career. You know, I never worried about weight because I have the power to substitute for it. I have devastating power that these guys don’t have. So I never worried about weight, because I felt like weight is just an image.

“At the end of the day, how many times, over and over again, have guys out-weighed me and they were left on their back? None of them could put me on my back, being so [light] of a fighter. That’ll just tell you everything. These guys can’t put me on the ground, but I can put them on the ground, and I know that.”

Why, then, would Wilder fix what isn’t broken?

“Just because of my team,” Wilder said. “My team want me to do it, and we work as a team. So me and [co-manager] Shelly [Finkel] talked about this and of course I’m gonna do what I wanna do. But I went back and said, ‘You know what? If y’all wanna see certain things, then I’m gonna give it to you.’ I’m never the one’s that just solely sold on what I wanna do. There’s certain things, but we work as a team and we’ve been working for this long and if it’s adjustments to be made, I’m willing to do that, just to see.”

“My goal was always to be 245,” Wilder said. “That’s what my goal has always been. But somebody’s gonna get hurt. If weight brings big-man power, and I already had the power and the speed, somebody gonna get hurt. So if people wanna see me put on weight and someone get hurt, then so be it. But you never wanna see no one like Adonis Stevenson. I’m always thinking about him and I tell people all the time – we risk our lives in the ring. We risk our lives. And I know I have the power to hurt anyone – anyone.”

It will make him slower and he will gas quicker. he couldn't hit fury being light and fast ffs.
It seems if this true and he going for broke, he is probably thinking if he landed the hail mary round 12 combo with 30 more pounds fury would have stayed down

Fury will come in lighter, which will be beneficial. Wilder will come in heavier which will be detrimental. Fury might even win by stoppage in the rematch.

That would slow Wilder down and take away his greatest asset, speed. Maybe 225-230 would be good. 245 on up and he will gas bad with his style of fighting.

Wilder gassed at 215 or whatever he was , what’s he gonna he like with more weight on? Fury will run rings around him. I don’t believe a word he says though to be fair so it’s probably not gonna happen. He’ll do the same as the first fight.

So he wants to have a body on his record but prefers to be lower weight....this guy makes no sense whatsoever.

But yes, he needs to gain weight. Not to 245 though because that's just too big for him. 230 is a good weight and will help him deal with the mammoth physical beast that is AJ. That is one of the main factors in the AJ fight, the weight difference. He comes in at 212 and he's going to get murdered in there.

As for Fury, it'll do him no good at all. The slower he is, the easier a target he is to hit and the more Fury will rack up the points with ease.

Not that Wilder used his movement against Fury anyways, he hardly moved a muscle in that fight. But that wasn't down to Wilder, that was because Fury confused him and forced him to stand still. He can't change that.

This is just talk to keep imterest. If he was gonna be bulky, he would have already done it. Deontay has a super active metabolism, it's in his DNA, if he wanted to bulk up beside using weight gainers he's gonna need some enhancing supplements. Or he can hire James Toney to show him how to eat his way up.
Other "nutrition" coaches Wilder could hire to get to 245 would be Naseem Hamed, Roberto Duran, post fight A.B.,Samuel Peters, Tyson Fury,me.

Wilder wants to play it off like he is some little guy fighting bigger men, frame wise they are the same
He he wants that kind of credit he needs to get down to 200 pounds and win a title there

He should just get back to his 220 lbs why would you jump 30lbs up, I hope he doesn’t do this coz if he does I give him no chance in the rematch and right now I think Fury wins the rematch.
