I'm looking at Povetkins last few fights, and I see a guy who needs a guy to come at him. He is open for the right hand too. If you keep Povetkin at range with a good jab, land an occassional body shot and land a big right hand to that massive head of Povetkin, that's the recipe for success against him.

Wilder has the tools to do this. He just can't let Povetkin get inside and do damage and that's where at times Wilder takes days off on the ropes. The Stiverne fight showed me that Wilder has what it takes to not only beat Povetkin, but ko him.

Wlad showed flashes at times in outboxing Povetkin when he wasn't holding, clinching and pushing Povetkin down. Wilder does not fight that way. Wilder has offense. If you cover up and then counter Povetkin after his attacks, he will wilt, mark my words. He was ready to wilt against Huck.

Povetkins fans were naming guys like Boswell, Takam and Charr as better than Wilder, lmao. They are only naming them because they at least are better names on Povetkins resume than Wilder has on his I guess. Homers.

Then I go back to the Marco Huck fight, and I'm like...wtf are these clowns talking about? The Mike Perez fight clearly has these Povetkin fans fooled.

Povetkin gets tired in fights when he is hit back clean. I'm emphasizing this: If you cover up good, and give Povetkin a hard jab and straight right all night...his punches lose steam after a while, and he becomes weak. Had that been a 15 round fight, Huck ko's Povetkin imo.

If you let Povetkin dictate the pace like he did against Boswell, Charr and Takam did, you get that result. Guys like Huck and even going back to the Chambers fight showed you that Povetkin can be outboxed...especilly by a guy like Wilder.

People think that this is an eay fight for Povetkin. Foh, lmao.:nut

I'm picking Wilder by ko in 7. Povetkin does take a good shot, but I don't think that he can take Wilders big right all night. He barely took Huck's.

Honestly, I think he underperformed in the Huck fight, if you watch his fights you'll see he's capable of better and Huck is a good fighter as well, let's not dismiss him as some bum.

But yeah, stylistically, even though Wilder is not as good as Povetkin in general I think he'll be a problem for Alexander.

He's not a bum. My thing is he is beatable, but his fans don't think so. And they claim guys on his resume to justify their points. I had to look at these fights again to see...am I missing something or do they hate Americans or the fact that the hvw title could come back to America should Wilder beat Povetkin and then Wlad.

Deontay got dropped by Sconiers, wobbled by Molina, eye swollen by Duhaupus...and when Povetkin lands one punch it's over. Same poster said the same infantile **** about Garcia when he fought Matthysse and they cried foul after that loss before finally admitting that Matthyse clearly lost. I love the fact that they talk like this lol...

I agree. I don't see why this board overrates Povetkin so much. He's kind of slow on his feet, and he was utterly humiliated by Wlad. Yeah, he seems to have miraculously gained some power and muscles in a short amount of time whilst in his mid 30's, but I'm not sold on his ability to deal with a mover, a jabber or someone tall. He was also knocked down by a jab. Can't get that out of my head. I think Wilder has enough speed and agility to stay at range, land power shots and stop Povetkin.

When the fight is made and the board starts the bets, my cash is on Wilder by TKO 8.

Not a bad argument by Blizz. I still reckon Povetkin will starch Wilder, but he's given me something to think about.

Povetkin may have been the more impressive fighter of late, beating better opposition in more convincing style, but I don't think this fight is a mismatch as some would have you believe.

Styles makes fight and I agree that Povetkin prefers guys to come to him and struggles with a guy that boxes him from a distance. You only have to see the Takam fight in the early rounds and you see the difficulty Povetkin has with a guy that just doesn't walk right at him. Wilder clearly has a style and tools like his jab and right hand that could see Povetkin lose the fight.

But Wilder as we know is as flawed as he is talented. His footwork while fast can be poor leading to balance issues. Defensively he relies heavily on his height and reach, when an opponent is inside he doesn't know how to clinch, in fact in his last fight he showed a willingness to work inside which against Povetkin would be a big mistake.

I am very interested in how Povetkin deals with Wach and how he copes with the size, jab and style of the bigger man. While Wach can't compare to Wilder in terms of speed and movement he could still expose flaws in Povetkin's game.

Wow it took you this long to figure it out, I said Wilder would win and by KO over Povetkin months ago on here for the very reasons you've mentioned. Not too swift on the uptick are you?
