I'm not saying he should have fought a guy who could damage him. Just someone who knew how to throw a jab and keep his hands up and eyes open when punches are coming.

I just have trouble seeing how people can look solely at his primitive skills while ignoring the obvious dynamite in his right hand. Combine that with great size and length, and one has reason to be cautiously excited about his career.

I expect that GBP and Shelly Finkel will start stepping up his competition in small increments by the end of the year.

Wilder had only had 5 fights plus he doesn't have much ameatuer exp. Let him fight another yr against no hopers, Tyson didn't come out fighting great fighters after only 5 fights, niether did Foreman. Let the guy learn his craft, he should be fighting a once a month for about a yr or 2 before he steps up, look how many fight Wlad had before he stepped up.

They also ignore the fact that he is a great athlete who is in very good shape, something that quite sadly has become rare in the HW division.

Exactly, Tyson's combined opponent's record is almost exactly the same as Wilder's through his first six fights.

He should have stayed amateur another year or two. But I'm glad he's doing well.

Teach him to use his feet, use that jab effectively and 95% of the time, and throw a right hand here and there....before you know it, we have an American version of the current Wlad :rofl:rofl:rofl

Seriously, though. This kid is green and very raw. It's too early to say he is or isn't the next big thing. The fact that he apparently has power is a HUGE plus, already though...especially having those great physical advantages. Mark Breland should do right by this kid.

Wilder did a good job but he's a long way from even fighting midlevel journeyman or fringe contenders. He's probably just going to stay active and fight lower level opposition.

that guy was a piece of crap. he looked old, and was out of shape. i saw the guy right before he walked in, didnt impress me at all.

i am, however, excited about wilder, but this wasnt any kind of test for him.

Wilder throws a powerful and accurate cross, is in great shape, and has the physical tools to make it as far as his skills take him. Why wouldn't every American fight fan root for this guy? Once his body matures, he should be a beast.

I have to say that I am more impressed with Wilder's potential than Arreola right now.

You guys obviously never saw Mike Tyson at this stage of his career. Look who he was knocking out in the same fashion Wilder has been knocking them out -- and there was no Teddy Atlas questioning his opposition.

he destroyed a guy who was literally the worst boxer i've seen in a professional fight. deontay looks like needs A LOT of work...
