Or would Joe have been best to avoid this match?

Let's make it spicy and have FOTC Joe in there against Wilder

I say Frazier fairly easily. However, I guess some would see Wilder as a very poor man's young Foreman and get the image of Foreman blowing Joe out twice. However, Wilder never came remotely close to beating anyone in the same realm as Joe. Therefore, my fairly confident answer is Joe by knockout.

And I said this before his recent "humiliations". He'd have no chance against Frazier

Wilder had a booming right hand. If he lands it, depends on how Frazier reacts to it.

Wilder pushed his jab, and telegraphed his right
    hand.
His legs are weak, so he'd have no real chance
of pushing Frazier off for room consistently.
    See prime Frazier's wreckage
of smaller but far better skilled Bob Foster
    for reference.
Frazier would crowd Wilder, and introduce him
to a style of fighting he's never seen before.
No stationary head, no room to get off his
jab or long right hand, he'd always be fighting
from a defensive posture, not allowed to
get leverage on any punch he might get
    off.
The usually slow starting Frazier would
ko Wilder with in 6th rds at the most.
    Easy night for Joe.
He may be able to go on stage later
    with his group the Knock-outs
    perform a few tunes......

Yes he would.Wilder liked tall ,upright guys he could land his right hand on,Frazier would be underneath it and working the body,Wilder would not be strong enough to keep Joe off and Wilder is useless inside.

Prime Wilder has a puncher's chance with that right hand which imo was even more power than Foreman's.

Wilder today would get decapitated. Not nearly as powerful, and his durability is definitely diminished imo.

Frazier is short for a Heavyweight and Wilder is not used to fighting smaller skillful Heavyweights, the issue is Wilder's sweeping right hand from distance wouldn't be that effective because Frazier would be getting underneath it and then attacking Wilder to the body and head.

Against a smaller fighter who likes to bob and weave you need the uppercut and well Wilder's offence is limited and hes not that skillful, yes Wilder is alot taller but on average he only weighs between 210-220 and is not that physically strong compared to Foreman for example.

I think Frazier KO's Wilder in the 2nd half of the fight if Wilder does land on Frazier and possibly knocks him down, I don't see Wilder having the tools to finish off Frazier who has the heart of a lion.

Frazier takes everyone not George Foreman to hell, he took Ali on 3 vacations there

Guys got caught by Wilder because they stood in front of him the whole night with virtually no head movement, something Frazier never did

It's hard to say. I've always thought that a shorter fighter's way to deal with Wilder is to swarm him and suck up his space. His footwork ain't that great which adds to that perception. Wilder is however a different league of puncher to Frazier and he's faster than almost anybody that Frazier fought. I think you'd see a fight where Frazier pushes the action but gets clipped and floored, maybe more than once. Wilder proved that he has the stones to eat leather in a hard fight so who knows. If it goes to the end Frazier wins but I think there's a relatively healthy chance that we see Frazier twitching on the floor too.

Deontay Wilder - had colossal punching power. A solid chin. Stamina to go the distance. Excellent conditioning and would have a noticeable size advantage over Frazier

Joe Frazier - very fast hands, excellent left hook. Non stop work rate. Ability to slip long punchers and work to the inside. Excellent stamina

Conclusion - I can see arguments favoring Frazier’s superior skill and resume over Wilder’s padded record and lack of some fundamentals. But this is no easy fight and it’s not out of the question that wilder could win

Wilder wouldn't allow Frazier on the inside, he'd retreat and give up rounds if necessary. Wilder wouldn't try to keep JF off with the jab like Ali and others did. Wilder would create distance with his legs, he was willing to lose rounds because he was confident that he'd get the knockout. Wilder could use his length (Wilder created and closed distance fast) and quickness to create distance. Frazier's long hook would have to travel up, (with his crouch, about a foot) and out, to get to Wilder, and Frazier often left his weight on the front foot when throwing long hooks. Even if JF hooked behind a jab, Wilder would still not fight like a conventional fighter, he wouldn't slip or parry the jab, he'd probably just back up and throw the right hand over the jab. When the hook (or jab) missed because Wilder was out of range, Frazier would be in front of Wilder, well within range for the Wilder right hand.

Wilder was not a conventional boxer, but he was long, strong, had stamina, quickness, and power. JF wouldn't be able to make DW fight on the inside and chasing/lunging at DW would just leave JF vulnerable to the right hand. DW is a stylistic nightmare for JF.

I don't think Deontay lasts long against any crowder of any kind. Patterson probably gets him. No stone fists needed. Not that Floyd's nothing it's just you get me, power wise Floyd is not in the league of the Wilder and Fraziers.
