Problem with your pattern is it overlooks the fact that people from the former Soviet Union couldn't turn pro during that stretch of time. Little detail like that aside there is nothing wrong with your hypothesis.

Didn't he only have 25 fights as an amateur? Might not be that experianced.

His management needs to be very intelligent about how they bring him along because his experience is so limited. I don't see him in a title fight until at least thirty fights in.

Wilder definitely has to be moved real slow and matched good as a pro in the early stages. He got a good draw at the Olympics, and earned a bronze but still is raw and very flawed.

He wont be the next big anything. He looked frankly dreadful when I saw him as an amateur.
Lazy, easy to hit, wide, poor footwork....

He is 23 and only 207 pounds. Wladimir was 20 and 220 when he turned pro, Dimitrenko was 18 or 19 and 240 when he turned pro, those two are now 240-245 and 255 respectively. At 23 Deontay won't fill out all that much more, maybe another ten or 15 pounds, I am not sure sure being 217 or 222 at 6'7" is a good thing in the heavyweight division.

Wilder is a great story and has that charisma and raw talent to potentially become something special. He's also a lifelong athlete who keeps himself in great shape.

But let's let a little more time pass and see him develop before we annoint him anything. After all, we've heard this story fairly recently.

If Wilder can get up to 230 he will be fine.

I am trying to move away from that. We will find out sooner or later. I think with the right trainer(s) Wilder could develop into a good prospect in 4 years or so.

I met him when I was getting popcorn at the fight. I looked at him eye to eye and said "Good fight Mr. Wilder" and he said "Thanks man" and that was that.

crusierweight might beckon if he could make it in the amatuers then im sure he could make it at pro level...it is like most amatuers who when they go pro are in there prime years so they are at there top height and weight.

wilder is 23 and making 201 pounds at am heavy. this might mean he is not going to grow...he could make cruiser i personally feel.
