I thougth that was a big insult to Owen, that man has dropped deep... First they use him as cannon fodder for a guy making his debut, and if that wasn't bad enough even Wilder wanted him as a opponent. If Beck keeps fighting I won't be surprised if even Kimbo sees a helpless victim in him. :-(
He'll do ok, but he just doesn't strike me as someone who is elite. I guess he started too late to be as polished as people might want him to be. Compare his fights at this stage with the fights of pretty much any top level fighter of the last 20 years when they were at the same stage in their pro careers. I hope he can prove me wrong, I would NEVER complain if we had another top level HW. I just feel that he is just going to be 'ok'.
Come on, almost every top level fighter in the last 20 years stepped up earlier or even way earlier as Wilder... That's why so many fans are making fun of him. I wouldn't either, the more the marrier. The division is as bleak already.
That's what I was saying. I think he looks rather poor at this stage of his pro career compared to pretty much anyone else that we hold in high regard. It's simply that the competition (other than the Klits) is so bad, that we are desperate for someone to be in shape and have some potential.
he is being protected because he is the only u.s. medalist. EVERY pro from the u.s. has gone nowhere (maybe not estrada but...he is in a bit of wa nowhere land). and they are not a 6'8 heavyweights. a devision which u.s. has a unsationable appetite for. he might only get one heavyweight shot the way he is being progressed. but still it will be a big deal when it happens. it's a real shame.
its not good that he's had over 20 fights but still hasnt gone beyond 4 rounds. i wonder how will he react when he's put in with someone with a decent chin and stamina who he cant blow away?
