Yea, of course there are many past fighters who *could* have exploited his flaws. Or he could have knocked them out. All I'm saying is that at worst he's a live underdog against many of the smalLer and slower lineal champs of the past.

Any man with above average power should always be given a punchers chance, so I agree with you from that perspective.. But don't let it cause you to lose sight of the fact that he had a near defeat experience against a guy who barely qualified as fringe.. That and he remains untested at the top level. He's got some tools along wkth the right personality to be a good champion. But for right now the jury is still out on him.

He may not have fought anyone great but I don't think it's unreasonable to say he could be the hardest hitting champion of all time, his right hand is lethal.

Being the hardest hitting champion of all time is not worth two buckets of warm spit.

It is when those knockouts are putting food on the table.

I don't think you can make a case for that.

He took until the ninth to drop a guy Mollo decked 4x within five rounds between their first go and rematch.

He took eight rounds longer than Arreola or Ashanti Jordan to get rid of Molina.

He never dropped Stiverne, though Rossy did in the 1st.

Massively overrated by many on this site. And I don't think he is athletic. His coordination stinks. Good power, tall and has a reach. I think is skills leave much to be desired.

30 years old, Olympic winner with nearly 40 fights and he has one top ten opponent on his resume. One!

That is a hype job. His handlers know he is not real deal. But his fights are fun

I hear you-- I have no illusions about his shortcomings. But on how many of these lineal champs would you guys lay even modest (say 4:1) odds against Wilder?

    Jeffries
    Hart
    Burns
    Johnson
    Willard
    Dempsey
    Tunney
    Schmeling
    Sharkey
    Carnera
    Baer
    Braddock
    Marciano
    Patterson
    Johansson
    Frazier
    Spinks
    Douglas
    Moorer
    Briggs
    Rahman

I like the kid, seems like a nice guy, conditioned, decent skills and can certainly punch but has flaws...We have Fury, Povetkin and Wilder at the top with Wlad still hanging in and 2 potential and impressive superstars coming up Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker

By the time Fury-Vlad and Wilder-Povetkin finish up and meet....the other 2 should be in position to shoot for the other 2 titles and in 2 years we should have a lineal solo champion out of the bunch, Wilder has a tough task against Povetkin if A. P. can stay in form but winners will meet Fury-Vlad winner and cream will rise to the top

The landscape of the division is certainly pointing in that direction. But I'm skeptical. We haven't seen a Complete unification at heavyweight in decades. Even wlad and Lewis never achieved this. And managers and promotors seem even less apt to doing it now than ever before. I suspect we'll have a situation where we have a few separate belt holders with one of them holding the title of " best among peers."

He could certainly beat some of those or let's just say have a better than average puncher's chance. Problem is, none of them are here now for him to prove that. The only thing that matters is weather or not he can beat the guys in front of him, and there are certainly some of them whom I have reservations about.

Decent flawed fighter with good punching power.

I'm not in awe of him, but I do think he's better some make him out to be.

Remove the word "big" at the beginning and that's how people described Rocky Marciano when he was active.

Guys with Wilder's build are "supposed" to be boxers. But he's a banger, pure and simple.

He has a lot of flaws (a lot). But he's basically knocked out everyone he's fought (except Stiverne, who was a mess afterward).

He could lose to most of the top guys or beat all of them.

He'll be exciting for as long as he fights.

No point in trying to put him in any categories yet. Just enjoy the ride.

    Not much.

Sure didn't think much of Szpilka either. I thought the guy was brought in to be a ko 1 type victim and display Wilder in a better light. Pretty much a silver platter and what Al Haymon fighter is going to be getting the short end of the stick on a decision?
