Wilder is a joke. The guys he fights are the bums other bums fight in order to get a W on their record.
Which of these do you consider a can? John Duddy? 29-1 (9 wins over top 50s, several over former titlists) Troy Rowland? 25-2 (3 solid wins) J LeHoulliere 21-1 (2 draws in high level regional title fights) Lucian Cuello 31-1 (won both regional titles he fought for, lost only to JR and Alvarez) Matta Vanda 39-7 (solid top 20 his entire career) Tobi Loriga 24-0 (5 minor titles) Jose Celaya 31-3 (3 minor title) And I could name several others such as Carlos Molina who is a TOP 10 for the last 4 yrs, Ray Sanchez who was once a very promising prospect. You can't say any of these guys are/were cans when they chose to fight JR. You can't even make a comparison here. Maybe, just maybe you could compare Potvetkin to Chavez. Being that he fought dozens of solid contenders before finally fighting the man in his division, but a better comparison would be Vaugn Bean. A Chicago banger who never met a can he couldnt crush. Another HW, active, would be David Rodriguez. 36-0 34KO, who shares a common oppnent with Wilder. ie Beck. However, Rodriguez was slated to fight Boystov, and has been calling out Arreola, Fury, the K2, Mitchell, and a host of other top 50 HWs. Wilder has trash talked ok, and he had a decent excuse earlier in his career, about his wife being sick, but if he started calling out names, you can best believe he'd get a fight. It's looking more and more as if he's being protected.:huh
How the hell could anyone know that? If this forum was here when Chavez Sr. was fighting bums for years you guys would have been saying the exact same thing. Obviously its ludicrous to compare the 2 when one has a HOF carreer and someone else's just began.
He's been fighting for nearly 5 years ffs! David price has fought 15 fights in nearly the same time period against better opposition and after his next couple of fights will be on for a title shot! America is the Mecca of boxing and wilder is fighting Greer in his 27th fight!!
Despite being an Olympic medalist, he was actually very inexperienced as an amateur. That said, he really should have stepped up by now. The main issue is that his actually boxing skills aren't all THAT improved since he turned debut, not to the extent they should be if he's feasting on journeymen. All he's doing is falling in love with his power.
Except Wilder does not have a top 50 on his resume. Malik DOES. Bowie Tupou is still a top 100 after consecutive KO losses. Also, Scott has fought Releford X2, Butler, Shufford, McGee, McDowell, and David Bostice. Noone on Wilders resume could EVER beat David Bostice. NO ONE. And let's not forget for a second, that Malik Scott is fighting Glaskov next. In his return to contention, Scott has made fights with Releford, a can, Tupou, and Glaskov. If we just write of his early rise up the rankings, and just count his last 18 mos, he's got a solid resume, if not a good one.:think
Look at who Greer has fought. He's a trial horse and stay busy fight. ESB site says Mike Perez was slated to fight him, but chose the Wilder bout instead.
Right. That's why they've matched him with a fighter that has 13 KO's in his 15 wins. Let us know if/when you ever find a clue! Greer is probably the best opponent they could find, in the "second tier" category, who would actually agree to fight Wilder. Wilder is still a "high risk / low reward" opponent. He needs a few more spectacular wins, on network TV, before better fighters will "have" to face him. Plus, of course, he still needs more experience. Greer, sad to say, is at least a step up. He might be a good test of Wilder's still mainly-untested defense, at least for a few rounds.
Yeah because of course opposition doesn't mean anything in boxing ? Is that your point dumbass ? Take a look at who Greer has fought and at who he has KOed, look at his KO percentage and at his losses, from which half were by way of KTFO. And you're here defending that opponent like the true gayass fanboy you are. He's the 300st heavyweight in the world and you're saying that's a step up ? Get the **** out of here. :hi:
