That would be all well and good if Wilder hadn't made a career out of "stay busy" fights. The vast majority of his opponents in the last two years have been guys no legitimate prospect should be fighting at that stage of thier career - has-beens, bums, club fighters and journeymen - Kelvin Price was a step up for Wilder but not a significant one, and he's made an immediate step back down again for his next opponent. Just when you think he's about to start trying to make something out of his career and fight decent opposition, just when you think he's going to start trying to move up the rankings and make himself a legitimate contender after four years in the business, he and his promoters go and sign him up to fight another nobody! How can anyone take this man seriously? He's made no progress whatsoever since his debut, and the one time he looked likely to step up a level after beating the only guy in the top 100 rankings he'd faced he throws it all away to add to his own bum-of-the-month club tally.
Yup. Wilder has also hit the deck against other cans as well, and was knocked out in the ams, with HEADGEAR on. Here he is visiting the canvas against Sconiers. Expect him to establish permanent residence as soon has fights a live body! This content is protected Wilder has a glass chin, his handlers know it, and so he fights NOTHING but stiffs! :nod
the career of wilder just seems to be getting worse, not better. i thought with him fighting on showtime last time out, this was going to be the start of him getting in there with fighters who could at least fight back... but no, he's now fighting ****ing 8 rounders with absolute trash. put a fork in him, he's well and truly done.
Slowly slowly catchy ******! He should be right for a title challenge in about another 50 fights...going at his rate of working through the ranks.
People in this thread shitting on Deontay but boosting up price and Ruiz Jr. LOL. Deontay has a lot of work to get better, I"m sure they are really just trying to keep him busy.
i can't wait to see him get KTFO. hes a hype-job waiting to be exposed theres a damn good reason why he's had the career he's had.
whats the point in keeping him busy against fat ass guys who cant fight? This content is protected in case no one has ever seen the great matthew greer
What about stay busy do you not understand? Its a designed soft touch fight to stay active and put in work.
The problem isn't having one fight like this, it's that Wilder's ENTIRE "career" is nothing but this. There's a reason for this. He's got a glass jaw, and his handlers know it. :yep
Last fight was a significant step up fight. I believe he tried to get a fight with Fury afterwards but was rebuffed. That said, he isn't a great amateur in terms of length in the sport and has a great deal to learn in the profession. So to slowly move up, which he is doing. Isn't a crazy or protection as some try to claim. He doesn't have a belt, isn't a champ, and is correctly being moved along slowly so he can hone his craft. The butt hurt about him is really confusing, because there is no talk or hype around him.
once you finally take a step up in your 26th fight, why must the guy take 10 steps backwards by fighting a bum like this in your 27th? yeah i know..stay busy, no amateur fights, ect ect ect YAWN
