NO no:nono He has been a professionel boxer for 2 years and 3 months.
AND he is 25 years old. He will turn 26 on october 22.

 

What is going on here is a little community service guys...

As a Pro Boxer he couldn't even fight in his home state until the state got its act together and put up a regulatory agency. The state of Alabama now has a boxing commission almost single-handedly because of Deontay.

The fight is in Tuscaloosa - Deontay's home town.

This is more like a football team scheduling a weak opponent for homecoming than anything else. This is his debut in his home state and in his home town.

I wouldn't read a lot more into it than that... Deontay is still learning and growing and isn't yet ready to fight a top contender. He has a decent team and a conservative management who knows that in this day and age a single loss might mean a huge drop in interest and total career earnings. IF he wants to throw a small party for his hometown fans - its all good. Roy Jones used to do the same for his fans in Pensacola as I recall

Well yeah. It is because of all the hype that they have organized this fight.
I just see it as a another fight for Deontay Wilder.
I hope that 5-10 more fights and he will fight some fighters that can throw back a punch.
He is only meeting tomato cans now.

 

Im taking the ****. Most of Deontay's opponents have had more losses than wins.

To side with Deontay, the guy probably isn't ready and needs to be taken slowly through the ranks. I see no problem with that. Anybody else?

I think Wilder should fight Vitali or Vlad ASAP, HBO would fall for it and Wilder would get rich off that one fight. However, Wilder will makes lots of money fighting bums.
