As I recall, Stiverne was a big favorite in that fight, so the Vegas odds makers got that wrong, again too.
It was an important fight for Wilder to show his boxing skills and his chin.
Strange how composed Wilder was in that fight and didn't display the imbalance and wildness he did against Szilka.

Makes me wonder if he did that intentionally since Fury and Povetkin were ringside. I'm sure it made them feel a lot more confidence in their ability to defeat him.
My guess is that the Wilder who fought Stiverne will be the one they face come fight time.
Although he didn't knock Stiverne out, he did hurt him badly a few times to make Stiverne spend more time on defence than offence.
I don't doubt they will probably have a rematch somewhere down the road.

I doubt he were matchmaking future fights down the line when he traded wild swinging punches with that crazy polish football hooligan.

Yes, he hurt Stiverne, but he foremost outboxed him from the distance. Siverne's a short, slowfoot plodder with little aggressiveness.

Stiverne simply gave Wilder more time than what Szpillka gave him.

Styles make fights. You can't KO everyone. Ask George Foreman and Mike Tyson.
No shame that Wilder didn't/couldn't KO Stiverne.

Wilder just wanted the early KO, and wasn't touching Szpilka enough in the first 2 rounds. He got impatient but got it together in the 3rd and beyond. Against Stiverne, he was the underdog so there was a less of an expectation to knock him out, just get the win. We still saw Wilder go at him and hurt him as you said.

There's less of an expectation to knock Povetkin out as well which is part of the reason why I'm expecting a big performance out of Wilder. Folks respect that power and they better, post Stiverne, fighters have specific gameplans for him. Molina gave him different looks, pressing the action, then backing off, and making sure he doesn't get hit with any right hands, and it worked a little bit., got in that a couple good punches in the 3rd, and survived to the 9th instead of early KO. Szpilka brought Molina in for sparing I knew he'd try something similar,

I really expect Povetkin to have a plan too or he'll get KO'd quickly. Szpilka by his own admission got hit a few times and thought he could handle that power, the next time he went at Wilder, he woke up in the hospital. Stiverne kind of came in there without a plan believing the Wilder hate. Now he's fighting off TV. Wilder is also planning on gaining more muscle @ 245 so more power down the pipeline.

Good ****ysis and breakdown and I agree 100%.

Wilder's power is real, and will only get better as he progresses and learns how to set up the right shots against different opponents with different styles and strategies. Experience counts.
He still has to learn how to use his footwalk and jab to create the correct positioning and distance for his combinations.
At this stage I would say that Wilder is the best combination puncher in the division but is limited only because he has yet to master how to place those punches effectively.

you perceive me as wishy washy because you are over the top, you said he has too much power for EVERYONE dude.

even if that is true you don't know that until he fights all the best, he hasn't yet, which isn't his fault but the truth,,,

just because I don't freak out about him like you doesn't mean I don't like Wilder dude.

Lastly, the very post that confused you already states which it is, I said he has POWER, cant you read?

Tried everything he could to not feel that POWER after he was hit flush.
Stiverne has a hard head and a good chin, but after he got hit a few times you could tell he was in defensive mode and hoping to catch Wilder with that counter left hook he likes to throw when his back is against the ropes.
Wilder was hip to that counter shot and stepped back a couple steps before using the jab to land more shots.
POWER broke Stiverne's will mid fight. :yep

Don't get me wrong. I don't consider Stiverne the A-Side in the HW division. But he was a belt holder, so it was a very good win for Wilder.

IMHO, there is no real A-side currently in the HW division. I'm praying that by the end of 2016 there will be at least 2-3.
